The Disappearance of the Bathblast Island King

In 671, King Tristan of the Bathblast Islands disappeared along with Captain Ishan Hall, near Hall's home while he was home for the harvest. The next morning, the king's body was recovered in the fields, apparently having been torn apart by a wild animal. Hall's body was never recovered. While the evidence mostly likely points to Hall having executed the king, most Islanders believe it was the other way around.

Though King Tristan and his wife, Queen Lyra were some of the most beloved leaders of the islands, their relationship had a dark side. Lyra was openly close with Captain Hall, whom she almost married in place of Tristan, and documentation from the time shows that some people believed they were more than friends. Journal entried reveal that Tristan also suspected that Prince Dario was actually Hall's child.

The most popular stories about the disappearance claim that the king traveled to Hall's land to finally confront him about his son, and after murdering Hall, buried him below the field. Those who believe that Hall was Dario's child usually add to the story that Dario used Nina Kho's Wolfskin Hat to turn into a wolf and seek revenge on the king. Though there is no evidence that Dario was present during the king's visit to Hall's lands, the prince himself also disappeared shortly after his father's death, leaving his sister, Princess Avva as the only heir in the wake of the terrible tragedy. Many present day Islanders follow a superstition that you should not stay out in the fields past sunset during harvest time, as the ghosts of the murdered men continue to appear each year and battle one another.
