History

Early Life

Once a simple farm girl, Mira's life changed forever when her family's farm was the victim of a lycanthrope attack. Her life was saved when a fey who enjoyed watching the farm intervened, leaving the girl both infected with lycanthropy and fey-touched. Time began to show her the full range of her new abilities, the greatest of which was that she now had nine lives.   While she tried to blend into society on numerous occasions, luck was never on her side and she was forced to flee one home after the next. Mira eventually fled to the Great Sengorian Forest after hearing rumors of a hidden lycanthrope refuge, which to her surprise turned out to be true. What the rumors did not mention was that the village was established by one of the Animal Lords of the Beastlands, the Bear King, who ruled his territory within the forest with a fair but often harsh paw.   Mira soon drew the attention of the Bear King's son, although she did not return the Bear Prince's affections. This did not sit well with the young Prince, whose repeated failed attempts to woo Mira turned his lust into loathing. He eventually tried to force himself on her and in the ensuing scuffle, Mira pushed the Prince away. He fell, hit his head against a jagged rock, and was killed from the blow.   The village guards quickly arrested Mira and the Bear King immediately called for her execution. While the act was carried out swiftly, it had little effect other than revealing her quasi-immortality to the villagers when her soul immediately possessed a nearby cat and reformed into her humanoid form. She fled into the Great Forest with the guards hot on her heels.   While Mira was quick, she was no woodsman. The guards knew the terrain while she did not and she was quickly caught again. As the guards ripped off her trousers and prepared to do the unspeakable to her, a spiked tail burst through one guard's chest while a blood-red sword quickly cut down the rest. A wandering stranger had saved her; he helped her off the ground and introduced himself as Mesogog.

Servant of Evil

Pledging her life to her savior, Mira quickly rose as one of Mesogog's top lieutenants. While she saw many of the terrors he inflicted upon others for what they were, she had nowhere else to go and no faith that anyone else would ever help her. The changes in Mira were gradual as she justified each act of evil to herself, but in time the farm girl she had been was nothing but a memory.   When Mesogog was defeated and sealed away, Mira fled with her fellow lieutenants. She spent the next several decades looking for ways to free him and eventually succeeded when she and her comrades hunted down the purple Quintus Gem. The gem held great necrotic magic and was in the possession of the alhoon Rhith. It was Mira who struck the final blow and destroyed Rhith's physical form.   Returning to Lothal, Mira's fellow lieutenants began gathering resources for Mesogog's revival. In the meantime, Mira inserted herself in the Adventurer's Guild as a spy. She worked her way up the guild ranks and used her position and skills at stealth to alter guild reports, covering up any mention of her allies' activities. She also reported the activities of powerful adventurers to her allies and spread rumors to manipulate the adventurers, putting them in positions to be eliminated (or at least distracted) during her allies' major activities.

Meeting the Headhunters

During this time, she met a group of adventurers known as the Headhunters and began to adventure with them. They had several quests together and in that time she grew especially close to a bard named Hugh Morris. Mira confided several vague details about her background to Hugh and even told him of the lycanthrope village when Hugh sought help to break a curse placed on his companion Kiri by Levira.   When Levira traveled to a tropical island in search of the Decay Incantation, Mira joined Cordelia in following her. The two were attacked by the green dragon Feyrbrand and split up, with Mira secretly meeting up with Levira. Mira faked an injury just inside the temple Cordelia had come looking for, escorted outside by Cordelia once The Headhunters arrived to catch up with Levira.   When the Headhunters learned that Huntington was being attacked on the beach by Moltor and Nadira, the group pursued while Cordelia carrying the "unconscious" Mira along. As her allies were forced to retreat, Mira joined the fray and revealed herself as a spy by stabbing Huntington through the heart and lopping off his head. While Hugh stood shocked and tried to get a straight answer about the betrayal, Chigiri tried to shoot Mira only for his non-magical crossbow bolt to shatter harmlessly against her head. She teleported away using a Gravestone after failing to stop Artie from recovering Huntington's body.

A Deadly Frenemy

Mira later approached Hugh in the city of Iron Rock while he was alone. She tried, unsuccessfully, to convince him to abandon his efforts against Levira and get out of the country while he still had the chance. The rest of the Headhunters snuck up on Mira during the conversation, with Artie's invisible sprite familiar pickpocketing her Gravestone. Unable to teleport away, Mira ran. The party forced her to use most of her bag of tricks to escape; first her Boots of Speed, second her living shadow, and finally transforming into a swarm of cats that scattered throughout the city.   The Headhunters next saw Mira with her fellow Morlocks as they prepared to break open Mesogog's prison. She battled against Chigiri and Hugh, holding them away from the spellcasters in her own party, and greeted the freed Mesogog as Artie teleported his fellow Headhunters to safety. Though somewhat injured by the battle, she held her own well enough to prevent Artie's kamikaze attack from using up one of her remaining lives. Her injuries forced her to flee with her allies before any of them could suffer permanent injuries.

A Master Lost, A Friend Found

Lacking the magical expertise of her fellow Morlocks, Mira resumed her duties as Mesogog's bodyguard. She accompanied Mesogog to meet Lady Kemlar, proving to be the most polite of the Morlocks to her hostess. Her manners did not go unnoticed and she was the only member of the Morlocks whom Lady Kemlar made no definite plans against, instead noting Mira's sense of honor and loyalty.   Mira was absent during Mesogog's death and Moltor's capture, being assigned to oversee the Morlocks' workers in the final stages of their castle's construction. Levira ordered her to accompany Nadira into the Abyss to recruit demon soldiers, mistaking Mira's calmness for compliance. She was unaware that Mira had already made a deal with Rhith, agreeing to fix one of her past mistakes by freeing the imprisoned alhoon and stopping the greater evil that was Levira. Her first course of action was to behead Nadira in the Abyss, destroying the demonic succubus in her home realm where her death would stick.   Mira's final encounter with The Headhunters was during their last battle against Levira. While the adventurers battled the dark Herald's's true monstrous form, Mira implanted the Purple Quintus Gem she'd stolen into Levira's mortal corpse. Once Rhith reshaped the dark elf form into a new body for himself, Mira left with him as the two rendezvoused with Lady Kemlar to begin assisting her plan to ████████████. In exchange, Lady Kemlar would provide assistance for their own objectives.
