Marcus Hawthorne
"You've gotta help him. Please."Marcus Hawthorne is a member of the Merto Archeaology Dispatch and a laid-back, but easily stressed individual. He grew up in The Mainland as an archeology student.
Appearance
Marcus is a Caucasian Human male with grassy green eyes, dirty blonde, unkempt hair, and a clean-shaven face. His attire is worn similarly to his hair, being very loose and disheveled. He walks with a bit of a hunch, and is often seen with his hands in his pockets or a coffee in hand.
Personality
Marcus is exactly as he looks. He's used to cutting corners and ignoring his responsibilities in favor of more interesting activities. He's a friendly person, but seems to enjoy the company of people similar to himself.
Despite presenting himself as wanting a more exciting lifestyle, Marcus shies away from new experiences, like when he was with the party briefly and elected to head back to the dispatch group rather than tag along. He talks a big game, but clearly just wants things to be easy and familiar.
Background
Very little of Marcus' history is known, but some things can be assumed. Marcus was born somewhere in the Mainland, and at some point took enough of an interest in archaeology to enroll in university for it in Merto. When he was very young, he embarked on his first expedition alongside Hamilton Caldwell, Abigail Dorazio, and Nikolai Goodwin, where he was injured by an unknown source.
Sometime later, Marcus was chosen to accompany a few other archaeologists to Nevurdul. He accepted and left to the island, before their ship unexpectedly crashed on the shore.
During their time in Nevurdul, Marcus got along well with Hamilton, and clearly wasn't a fan of the dispatch's leader Walter Stanton. After Walter injured Hamilton, Marcus helped him find someone to nurse his wound, which ended up being Sasha Densharr and Eleanor.
Shortly after bring Cookie and Finn onboard, Marcus decided he should head back to the campsite. His current whereabouts are unknown.
Relationships
- Hamilton Caldwell: Marcus and Hamilton got along well enough. Marcus seemed to view Hamilton as one of his closest friends amongst the dispatch group, and valued this friendship enough to save his life.
- Walter Stanton: Marcus had a definite distaste for Walter, specifically for his stifling, no-nonsense attitude. Seeing what Walter had done to Hamilton likely didn't improve their relationship.
Trivia
- Marcus enjoys his coffee black.
