Cordell (kɔrˈdɛl)

History

Cordell has always felt older than the children around them, even in her youngest years at Danholm, and, as the eldest, she's always tasked herself with looking after those which needed help the most. It's her the younger ones came to with broken toys, scratched knees, and torn clothes. By taking little bits of metal from the smithy she worked in, as well as bits of wood from the carpenters, she'd engineer new games and toys for the children to play with.
Because of this devotion to the children around her, Cordell took Hyun, Awelan, and Rhiannon under her wing and protection. The four of them settled into becoming a family, each devoted to the betterment of the others. It was both a disappointment and a relief to Cordell when they all failed to be chosen by a professor. None of them would ever be more than servants but, at least, they'll be together.
The massacre at Danholm hit Cordell hard. She felt loss of all the inhabitants deeply, from the youngest of children to the oldest professors. Through the pain, she gathered her resolve and kept her family safe until they reached Hachenberg. From there, her tale of vengeance for those children will begin.  

Relationships

Cordell is of unknown parentage. She was taken to Danholm before she was old enough to have any memories of her original family. She, like all of Danholm's residents, created a new family with the people who grew up with her. Her last surviving 'family' are Awelan, Hyun, and Rhiannon. Since coming to Hachenberg, Cordell has added Whisp to her little family.
On Wintersend of 781, Cordell was tasked to look after 17 young orphans on behalf of the Priests of Temli. She fell in love with them instantly, and was soon pulled into their chaotic games. Now she spends every weekend caring for and entertaining them.

Familiar

Theora is a pipistrelle bat that chose to become Cordell's familiar during her first year in Hachenberg. When the bonding ceremony was complete, beyond the standard abilities, Theora became immune to magic and was able to cast Fear of Death.

Cordell makes people close to death uneasy.  

Magical Objects

Cordell is rebuilding a coal shovelling gnome as well as researching the key gears and cognitite that make them move.
Hidden in the basement where she lives, Cordell has a magically tainted scythe that she obtained when she killed Marek Cross. She also has an everburning lantern that may show spirits.  

Employment and Skills

A natural smith, Cordell has been rising in the ranks of the industrial section of the Karbonites. She started on the assembly line, making metal billets, then was promoted to a furnace golem armourer. She's was then promoted to a gear smith, a more intricate and well-respected position. Recently, Cordell has joined Suenna at the cognitite forge.
