The Traders' Sea

"The calm waters and clear skies make our mark perfectly visible. The merchant ship plods slowly forwards towards its destination, but it will not make it there with goods in hand. A number of small settlements are visible in my spyglass, dotting the ocean. We glide across the waters like a bullet flying towards its target. Luck be with us, no Harps are nearby."
-Journals of Captain Rose

Intro

The most populous sea, and easily the safest for all but pirates, The Traders' Sea is the beating heart of civilization on the often largely inhospitable waters of the Six Seas. The sea is home to the most populous settlements and, for any passing visitor of the Seas, is likely all they will see. The Traders' Sea doesn't have much in the form of unexplored islands or fantastic beasts, but nonetheless is the perfect home for the non-adventuring types.

Geography

The Traders' Sea is located on the middle of the southern edge of the Seas, extending upwards in an elongated and uneven curve. Most of the islands of note can be found more towards the centre of the sea, though a few are scattered around the edges. The islands here are usually close to the water level, so the are increased number of beach islands. In terms of climate, the sea is tropical, like most of the rest of the Seas, and the equator even runs through the southern portion of the sea.

Inhabitants of the Traders' Sea

Harpsbilge
Harpsbilge holds an overwhelming presence on this sea. Over half of the Harpsbilgian Royal Navy present on the Six Seas is in The Traders' Sea, and even beyond that Harpsbilge exerts some degree of influence on almost every settlement on the sea.
Timberwelsh
Timberwelsh is trying to catch up to Harpsbilge in terms of control of the sea. Though they still do hold a number of settlements here, these settlements are neither as large nor as prosperous.
Other Nations
Most other nations have small settlements on this sea and embassies in major settlements. The Farvian Magocracy has neither of these, nor do The Chixualtl Wilds. Salimstan has a more substantial presence in the region than most other nations due both to their size, and the nation's focus on trade.
Merchants
Hundreds, if not thousands, of merchant ships sail this sea every day, trading goods in major ports. Most of them sail without escort unless the goods are extremely valuable, though on the Six Seas they nonetheless have cannons to defend themselves from pirates and the like.

Key Locations

Port Viola
The second largest city on the Seas, next only to Androchia, Port Viola is the crown jewel among the settlements owned by Harpsbilge. It sees the most trade of anywhere on the seas, and it's said that you can buy next to anything here from what the merchants bring alone.
Oak Port
The eternal rival to Port Rose, Oak Port is humbler than its rival but can still boast massive revenues and a consistant clientelle. Timberwelsh controls the port, which deals more in luxure goods.
Fenimpoof
An extension of Androchi onto The Traders' Sea, Fenimpoof has forged its own cultural identity while remaining true to its roots. Fenimpoof is an isle of inventions and hard work, and those looking to score off of the most recent innovation will often come here instead of making the trip all the way to Androchia.
