Pluto

Pluto is a city of walls within walls. Burgeoning wealth has driven the cities richest residents to construct literal stone defenses to keep the poor and middle class out of the city center. The city's more less well off districts all lie outside the main wall. The walls are impressive barriers of massive fitted stone. Outside the main walls are three slums; the old city to the southwest, where many buildings are run down but still occupied; Aman's Rope to the west, also called the "Executioners District" due to its hangman ropes and gallows used for town executons; and Keepers Hollow, most known for its enormous Cemetary. The citizens living here live closely to one another in small wooden shacks and the streets are tight. About half the towns population lives crowded together outside the walls.

KEEPERS HOLLOW- Dark shadowed streets are lined with bronze fencing and old ill maintained Victorian style houses. The enormous cemetary that engulfs most of this districts space makes it a depressing place to call home. Gardeners and undertakers make a good living here and even stone workers make a decent living making head stones for the graves. Keepers Hollow is also host to a grimly named tavern called the "Cold Mans Drink".

AMANS ROPE- This district of the city is similar to the rest in space being in short supply. Houses and businesses are tightly packed together. Traveling on the roads around here by day can take a bit with how packed with people the streets can be. Most residents of Amans Rope live in wooden accommodations. It is also called the "Executioners Park" by the locals due to all of the many execution sites still being used in the city.

OLD CITY- Residents of the Old City live in mostly failing stone houses with old slate rooftops yet again packed so tight, ally ways in this part of the city can fit a full adult human who is shuffling with their body turned flat with both walls pressing in on the body. This muddy slum used to be the city center when Pluto was once know as Vividia. Once it was conquered by the ever expansive Denlock Kingdom and the Embershard Family had taken charge, the towns name was changed to Pluto and a new city center was to be added on to display change and expand the town into a city. Some folk who live here may still call it Vividia even though those times are LONG since gone.

Demographics

Pluto is a diverse city that features many different races such as Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Dragonborn, gnomes, Etc. Because of this racial diversity, age is also just as diverse. An elf whose age surpasses 400 is not common but is entirely possible in this urban environment. The citizens of Pluto have many different jobs that define the working classes. Tailors, farmers, red-smiths and bread makers all pass by one another in the streets and most likely work for the upper class who sit beyond the looming walls and live in luxury without a care in the world. Privileged citizens of the inner city can enroll in one of Pluto's three universities for reading, writing, poetry, mathematics, architecture, archaeology, etc. Many who attend such prestigious institutions go on to work for the city and its development.

Government

Pluto is ironically governed with a Plutocracy style rule. Society is ruled and governed by the wealthy. The Elite form a ruling council and purchase representation within the Embershard Court. The descendants of the Embershard line are still seen as the rightful rulers of Pluto and the family is shown much respect by many council members.

Defences

Several walls broken into three tiers of height and thickness make up the primary defense for the city. Three towers with large ballista stand sturdy on each cardinal side of the walls and many troops enlisted in the military occupy these walls. Trebuche also sit on the walls as to launch large boulders at invading armies to break formations before the army's cavalry arrives.

Industry & Trade

Pluto's largest form of income is buying and converting currency from other kingdoms and buying things like silk, salt and livestock from those kingdoms and turning the profit on the converted coin they sold.

Infrastructure

TRANSPORTATION- Carriages can take people from one point in the city to the next for a modest price. However, carriages whose point of origin are outside the walls of the Inner City cannot transport citizens into the walls of the Inner City. There are separate Carriages nearby to continue travel from within. Any carriage whose point of origin start within the Inner City walls can transport people to the outer slums but, may choose not to do so if they do not to. Carriages cost 2cp per person outside the Inner City and 4cp per person within the Inner City.

LIGHTING- The Inner City has several well spaced oil lanterns on sturdy stone posts lining its streets and buildings. They are lit every night starting at 7pm in the summer and 6 in the winter. They are then extinguished at 5am in the summer mornings or 6am in the winter. The outer slums have a handful of oil lanterns hung on wooden posts on almost every street corner and most of the time when lit; stay lit until they burn out. some lanterns may also not be refilled or lit for a few days or weeks after it was last used. This means much of the slums stay dark at night and the street that was lit one night may be pitch black for several after.

BUILDINGS & DECOR- The Inner City is decorated with lush gardens of exotic fauna and flora. Almost every building has stone incorporated into its build and roads are also paved with fitted cobble. Buildings here can sometimes reach 4 to 5 stories tall and feature glass in its windows. The slums of Pluto have few paved roads and feature mostly paths that have been wore in over time. Most buildings here are made of stone unless directly owned by one who lives in the Inner City. An example of such a building are warehouses, shops and Taverns/Inns.

WATER- Due to the many creeks and streams in the region, the accessibility of clean water depends on whether you can create a fire to boil and clean the water. The waters of the ceeks and streams may not be filthy enough to kill someone when ingested but with a bad enough physical condition, one could be killed if the water isnt cleaned or boiled before use. In the inner City; the residents have their water cleaned in small worked institutions paid for by the citizens taxes.

SAFETY- The city of Pluto alone holds and maintains an army of 10,000 men and woman at any given time. This army is commanded by the King of Embershard and Lord of Pluto. The King may choose military leaders to command regiments of this army in Pluto's defense. The Inner City features safe houses that were built during the times of the Necrophage and still find use to this day. They are most commonly built into the basements of shops, houses, and public buildings throughout the district. In case of an attack the appointed leaders of the safehouses called overseers will help residents inside and house them until the attack is over. Residents of the outer slums that have not paid for a spot in these safehouses are left to fend for themselves. The price for a reservation in these safehouses is 10gp per person.

ECONOMY- The default currency of the world is the copper piece, also known as a copper bit. The typical Commoner makes about 1gp a week(so about 15cp a day).

Assets

Pluto is a large enough city that just about anything can be aquired here(so long as you're in the Inner City). Magic items are still quite rare and no shop openly trades in them but you may find a hidden shop owned by a mage in hiding who is looking to trade his craft for some coin. Many different mounts can be purchased and even trained here. -Everything on the equipment list can be bought in Pluto-
