The Rejected
They are outcasts, traitors to the saving of Mezzatli through intellect and progress. Fools. The Rejected are a group of former Black-Blooded members who controversially left the organisation: taking their research with them, due to moral disagreements with the direction the organisation were going in on their hunt to become potent and powerful enough to expunge the threat of The Quori and The Nocta Mori from their city of Mezzatli and wider Kaechaek. Numbered at 26, the Rejected are far from a military force, with The Black-Blooded Hunter revealing that they were the only member of their group trained for combat as the other members are researchers, scholars, alchemists and mages of lower status. The group have made use of the cavern systems underneath Mezzatli and use them to hide from the eyes of the city who have named them traitors and seek to remove them and recover the work they stole.
- Ismarre Black names the individuals who stole research and fled from The Black-Blooded as traitors.
Structure
The group are not organised for impact but, rather, for survival. Mostly controlled by scholars on a higher thought with planning and approaches to releasing their research in a way that doesn't damage the Black Blooded whilst the Black-Blooded Hunter handles protection for the group.
Their food and water is handled by the mages, allowing them to make something of a humble temporary life in the caverns whilst they continue to attempt to recruit members.
Culture
It is important to remember with the Rejected that they are pro Black-Blooded ideology. They believe in the killing of dreams and monsters and DESPISE The Waking as a group and seek to hunt them. They simply morally oppose to the new direction the Black Blooded are taking in their experimentation and usage of children in their testing as well as their modifications to the ancient and venerated Black Blooded ritual.
