Miranthor

Located in the eastern region of the continent of Terathis, Miranthor is a realm defined by economic vitality and cultural diversity. Its geographical features are as diverse as its people, with vast grasslands known as the The Howling Steppes sweeping across its interior, and a range of coastal mountains abundant in natural resources. These mountains, peppered with volcanic activity, skirt the eastern edge of the region. Notably, off the coast in the Ashen Gulf, lies the enigmatic Mount Barrlam. This volcanic giant exudes a magic-infused lava that, once processed, yields the rare and valuable arcanite.   Under the leadership of the Traders' Union, Miranthor has blossomed into a powerhouse of commerce and innovation. Its bustling cities harbor a myriad of craftsmen, traders, and inventors, and its ports teem with ships from every known corner of the world. The Traders' Union promotes innovation and enterprise, creating a cycle of wealth and opportunity that circulates throughout the region. This diverse economic landscape is mirrored in the architectural diversity of the city-states, each telling a unique tale of its history.   However, with swift progress comes disparity. The prosperity of some areas contrasts sharply with others struggling to keep pace with the rapid social and economic changes. Furthermore, the Union's unyielding pursuit of progress has sparked conflict with those advocating for environmental preservation and cultural respect. Thus, Miranthor is a land of contrasts, brimming with opportunities and challenges alike, with its future hinging on a delicate balance between progress and preservation.   Ember Peaks
Much of Miranthor's wealth can be traced back to the Ember Peaks. The mountain range provides an abundance of minerals and other natural resources waiting to be extracted and mined from the vast, rich deposits within.   Misty Lake
As its name suggests, Misty Lake a large body of water perpetually shrouded in a thick, ethereal mist. Many theories abound as to the origin of the mist, with some attributing it to unique climatic conditions, while others speculate it may be the result of some lingering, ancient magic. Despite its foggy veil, Misty Lake is teeming with life. Numerous species of fish thrive in its deep, cool waters, making it a popular destination for fishermen. However, the limited visibility also contributes to the lake's reputation as a dangerous place, as the mist can disorient those unaccustomed to its conditions, leading to tales of lost vessels and ghostly apparitions. The lake's shores are dotted with small settlements, mostly made up of fishermen and traders. These communities rely heavily on the lake's resources and have adapted to its peculiar conditions over generations. In Miranthor folklore, Misty Lake is often the setting for tales of lost love, spectral ships, and legendary creatures hidden in its depths.   Obsidian Cliffs
So named for the volcanic activity which is believed to be the cause for their formation, the Obsidian Cliffs are not as rich as the Ember Peaks to the south, but does boast substantial deposits of coal.   Sovereign Bluffs
The mountain range, separated in two by a large valley leading up to Frostvine, are so named for the Sovereign of Frostvine.   Pike River
A long, lively river that can be traced all the way up to the Cresfield Mountains, is a popular fishing spot. It runs through Lundrheim and provides the city with an energy source used in its processing of the mineral ores mined from the Ember Peaks.   Ashen Gulf
The large bay of Miranthor is a bustling trading hub of marine traffic from around Terathis and beyond, as Glila conducts a substantial amount of business with the continent of Eridos to the east. The archipeligo surrounding Mount Barrlam in the gulf is home to both the tribes of Barrlam Tortles native to the area, as well as pirate hubs secretively setting up small, temporary settlements to conduct their business in the region.   Vindrys Bay
Named for the Vindrys family of Glila, specifically Thormar Vindrys, a legendary shipwright whose ships are still regarded as the most well built and enduring in all of Myrathis. Thormar's granddaughter, Solara Vindrys, is the current Thane of Glila within the Traders' Union.   Cities and settlements within Miranthor:
