The Liberation of Eastbridge
Returning to the League Guildhall from Askel, the party discovered that in their absence, Tertius' cousin, Harrison Garrington, had made the claim for Eastbridge and proclaimed himself as Duke with Hueck's arrest and Tertius' absence. Harrison had come and occupied Eastbridge with an army.
Garry Holdenbrook and a small group of soldiers loyal to the Greyhall name fled Eastbridge to regroup to the League Hall. The party talked with Garry and tied to make plans, but it was very obvious that they were vast outnumbered with only one unit of infantry and one unit of calvary and did not have a chance of retaking the town with the small forces that they had.
Just then, they heard a bugle being blown from outside. It was Kip Rumpledream from the Wolf Pack Scouts. He had come with a group of (adult) Wolf Pack Scouts. He heard about the overtaking of Eastbridge and wanted to repay the help that the League had given.
Then a group of farmers arrived, armed with little more than pitchforks and farming equipment, but wanting to help as the League had protected the farmers.
One by one, more groups arrived to pledge their help. Two units of kobolds came to the Guildhall, stating the Ydarion the Night Cutter was very upset, but they mustered a number of kobolds to help the party to fight. A group of elven archers and a group of elven scouts appeared, stating that since this fight is between two opposing forces within a foreign nation, Queen Emeldawn of the Kingdom of Louth would remain neutral, as to not interfere with another sovereign’s territories. The elves, however, were sent by Princess Ireltharis Alistair to deliver a message to Tertius. The leader of the elven units opened a letter sealed with the seal of the Princess and read the message, “Hello. How are you?” The elven leader then stated that with the message delivered, they were no longer here under the orders of the Kingdom of Louth and asked what they could do to help.
A group of soldiers from the D'arlington family, led by Sirbastien D'arlington arrived and pledged their aid, followed shortly after by Jorrunde arriving with a group of Northlander warriors, offering the group’s service in return for clemency from the Duke. Tertius agreed to those terms. Finally, a group of Fey riding stags arrived, led by the two Redcap warriors, Mother's Favorite and The Other One. They offered their services in battle, stating the Wistari Enydark informed Stag King of the battle and he sent the stag cavalry to help.
The party then each took on a unit to lead in the battle to free Eastbridge. Tertius took the lead of the cavalry, giving them each a book from the Horse Babysitter collection to bond with their horses. When they were ready to ride, each of the cavalry had inscribed a "kissie mark" on the hind flank of their horse's armored barding.
The kobold catapult that was taken from the attempted siege of the Guildhall was used against the enemy as they approached. The party led their units in, routing and turning away the enemy units and Tertius and Holdenbrook rode in on cavalry first, making it inside of Eastbridge's walls. With the majority of the forces outside and decimated in battle, Tertius and the party succeeded in liberating Eastbridge, placing Harrison Garrington under house arrest and reclaiming the town as Duke.
