Palisade

As a city rich in culture, art and science, many look toward Palisade as a beacon of hope in a difficult and dangerous world. In many ways, this is true but it also suffers from the same ills that many cities toil under. In many ways, Palisade is a study in contrasts. The city center is clean, with flowing lines carefully crafted by the Shapers of the The Silver Spire to mimic the raw shapes of the ruined cities scattered across the world. This decision helps to emphasize the Republic of Emirr's focus on rediscovering what has was lost in the Mist Fall. Yet, outside of the perfectly sculpted city center, one will find dark alleys, poverty and crime that infest any city.   While known both as the capitol of the Republic of Emirr and as a rich cultural and scientific center, the best known feature of the city is the The Silver Spire, a unique structure built by the refugee Shapers Palisade welcomed even knowing it would evoke the ire of the Church. The Republic's central administrative center, White Hall, can be found in the city center. The headquarters of both the Vanguard and the Seekers Cabal are also located within Palisade's city center.

Government

The Republic of Emirr's central governmental functions are located within Palisade, with most operating out of White Hall itself. In addition, the city's own governmental apparatus is also located within the administrative center as well. The city's is lead by a mayor that is elected by the cities permanent residents that are in good standing. For purposes of elections, a citizen is considered in good standing so long as taxes are current and is not currently serving any sort of criminal sentence, and they have a residential address on file. The current mayor is Theodore Westhall, a former general in the Republic's Vanguard.   A city council of 19 help run the city. Of these, 12 are elected by the citizenry. Five of the remaining members are appointed by the current Prime Ministers of the Republic and the other two are appointed by the Silver Spire.

Defences

A city militia provides internal security for the city. Beyond the city proper, the Vanguard provide a defensive shield from both foolish raiders and bold Church Inquisitors.

Architecture

Palisade is unique on Mistburn as it was founded within the ruins of a per-Mist Fall city. This was originally done as a defensive measure as it allowed those early settlers to grow while remaining well hidden within ruins that most feared to enter. It is, perhaps, one of the reasons why Palisade, and by extension, the Republic itself, is so enamored by the histories hidden by the Mist.
