The Moving Castle

Purpose / Function

A spaceport that floats around the entire planet of Mergha. It never stays in one place.

Architecture

The Moving Castle, like the rest of the cities on Mergha, is floating and traveling constantly around the planet, idling rotating to keep itself powered. It is unable to remain stationary for a long period of time; the constant wind battering against it would damage it, causing it to lose its effectiveness as such a populated station. While the outside of this floating port is made of sweeping lines and streamlined angles, the inside is the complete opposite: it is a maze, sometimes filled with the beginnings of sturdy bones, thick stone cut and shaped from the rock below. Other areas are complete metal. Near the top of the Moving Castle is the Administration building.   In order to keep up with the humidity of the planet they're on, condensation collectors were placed in discreet places all over the port, where most containers are then transferred either by ship or by teleportation to the other floating isles. This water is shipped elsewhere from the planet itself, as it's 'native people' have no use for it, and it is collected passively from the air, ignoring the water below them.

History

In the beginning, it was thought that resisting the wind and its force was the ideal; however, as time went on, and with the thought of streamlining and taking advantage of the wind in order to power the entire port, the walls were physically stripped down. Tools were used to shave entire sections off. Like the rest of the New Terran Societies, the people of Mergha refused to become invasive against their new home, and so most of its collections are made passively to leave a lesser footprint. There were many prototypes created of the spaceport, but many of them were stripped down and reused. Those that weren't were instead used to create homes for species that Neo Terran involvement might have harmed.
