The Book of Mara

The Book of Mara was created in Pearlhal, when the city began to grow into a proper city and when the first temple to Mara was constructed and was dedicated to the goddess.
The Book of Mara is sacred for the Empire of Dercia and the capital Pearlhal in particular since it was there it was made and was for a long time located in the high temple of Mara. The book played a key role in the fight to keep the dark powers at bay.
Since the book was constructed it has never been closed because it is believed that if it is ever closed the dark forces it holds at bay will have free reign and plunge the world into chaos.
During one of the many wars with the Principality of Clifia, one of the Clifian armies got within a day's march from Pearlhal and a group of Clifian agents used the panic that was spreading in the capital to sneak into the temple where the book was kept and sneak it out of the city. But if the Clifians were hoping that the loss of the book combined with the enemy army close by, they were wrong, the population of the city rallied to the banners and fortified the city even more than it was before and volunteered to help fill out the ranks of the battered legions that were returning from the frontlines and ended with kicking the Clifians back over the border.
Ever since The Book of Mara was stolen Dercians have searched all over the Principality both officially and undercover.

Manufacturing process

The book was created by using some of the highest quality Moonstones ever found, crushing them into a fine powder that was then mixed in when the magical paper was created where after the paper was blessed by the goddess herself where after text consisting of her teachings and words of guidance appeared on the pages.

Significance

Considering the number of followers of Mara, the book can be considered one of the most important books in the entire empire.
