Darnithia

The region of Darnithia have a long and proud story, before being conquered by the legions marching from Pearlhal the region was a patchwork of city-states and tribal confederations more often than not fighting each other.   When the Empire of Dercia marched into the region in 175 I.C. the region met the invading forces with a stubborn resistance, with the mountain tribe of Kyrathi who resisted the Crienia for decades.   Despite the region's resistance and ferocity when fighting the legions, the region within a generation, became a loyal province, and the wealth and resources became essential to the continued expansion of the sphere of Perlhals influence.   The region's provincial capital, Erisca, is a bustling city that is nestled along the banks of the Arthios River, famous for the Grand Amphitheatre that lies just outside the city to the east. After the pacification of the region, the city became the capital of the region and has over the years since then, evolved into a city that incorporates cultural elements from both the local style and the Crienic.

Politics and Governance

The region is governed by the Praetor, appointed by the Emperor, unlike other regions in the Empire where local noble houses might still have a role to play in the governing of their region, the nobility of Darnithia was almost wiped out during the conquest and the remaining families were never really able to reclaim their former glory. In 673 I.C. the Senate of Pearlhal opened up for senators from Darnithia to be included in the senate of Pearlhal, symbolizing the complete integration of the region into the influence of Pearlhal.

Military Presence

The region is home to 10 auxiliary cohorts stationed around it. Because the region is viewed as peaceful, it has been deemed unnecessary to station the more experienced but also more costly legionaries there.   From this region, the Empire recruits many of its cavalry units and skirmishers, these skirmishers are mainly recruited from the Kyrathi tribe.

People of the region

The Irvian people
Dominate the coast and are famed for their skills at sea the legends say that they are the descendants of the maritime traders who came to these shores and established the port cities of Velistra and Calderis, many centuries if not millennia before the Empire came. the people are known for building some of the fastest galleys and merchant ships in the region, their culture emphasizes the power of the sea and their main gods are all related to the sea in many ways, the connection to the sea is also reflected in their architecture with their whitewashed walls, blue-tiled roofs and most if not all homes having a terrace overlooking the sea.
The Aloreans
Can be found inhabiting the fertile valleys of the interior, they tend to the vineyards, orchards and farms, some say that they produce the finest wine within the Dercian Empire. the Aloreans are proud of their connection to the valleys and follows ancient seasonal traditions and worship gods of fertility, and while they have many of their own gods, they have likewise adopted the goddess Felicitas  as one of their own.
when it comes to Deities overlooking ones crops, crops that ones family relay on, one can never have to many
-Alorean Priest
And while the people are generally seen as peaceful farmers, they have a strong tradition of serving in the Auxiliary legions of the Empire.
The Kolmorans
Is a dwarven people that live in the Serra mountains, where they live in fortified hilltowns and mining settlements where they extract iron, copper and silver from the mountains. they are deeply spiritual people and belive that the mountains are the ancient home of earth deities and the ancestors of the Kolmorans. The Kolmorans pride themself in being mostly self-sufficient lifestyle. Currently in Pearlhal the jewelry of the Kolmorans are very popular among the women of the city.
Kyrathi
Lives in the southern mountains where they have carved out cities into the mountains and with these mountain cities they were able to hold the invading legions away for a long time. While they keep their religious practices secret for the most part, it's known that they believe in a goddess that is believed to be able to take the shape of a lion that once inhabited the caves in the region.

Cultural Harmony and Tensions

While the people that inhabit the region share an identity as Darnithians, their differences often lead to rivalries, even to this day, where young teenagers from villagers will prank the neighbouring settlement if they belong to a different people

Sounds like a beautiful region. I am glad it is mostly peaceful, at least.   I like the idea of a goddess that can turn into a lion!
