Shadows in the Harbor Session 32
General Summary
Get In There!
The party continued their bloody assault at the door to the South Wind Trading Company's headquarters. Blow after blow flew, felling several of the guards like trees. Two of the South Wind men caved to the beatings, but the third surrendered. The party swarmed into the small office with the young woman known as Matilde Carson cowering in the corner. Keck, taking advantage of his orcish heritage, made a big production of his entrance as he headed in Matilde's direction. She looked away from him and trembled, trying to hide herself behind a potted plant. Keck gazed down at her face and began questioning her. She pointed at the back room, perhaps out of a sense of self preservation or a feeling that there was no point in lying. The roguish orc chortled, and asked some more questions. Matilde was adamant that she was just the bookkeeper and didn't know about anything nefarious. Damakos, meanwhile, paced up and down the room. He was in the mood to kill something and the South Wind guards hadn't been enough. Tim the Not-so-Tiny and Keck played up the good cop - bad cop routine. Fel'Shu, Baron Deeplight, and Malark stayed outside tending to the wounded and ensuring that none of their new prisoners could escape. Baron Deeplight's eyes burned with the fury of his patron, but his body ached from the beating it had recently sustained. Keck gave the door at the back of the a thorough investigation but couldn't find any traps. However, he heard several voices on the other side, so he asked Matilde who else was in there with him. She proclaimed that he was in there by himself even though the evidence seemed to indicate otherwise. Tim stacked up on the door, preparing to give it a solid kick. He could hear the names of the party members being mentioned.We Want Names!
Tim annihilated the door with his kick. Standing in front of his desk stood Medarin Clubs, the head of the South Wind Trading Company in Castleport. A muffled voice could be heard coming from a spherical stone he held in his hand. Medarin immediately threw the sphere against the wall, shattering it into several pieces. Medarin drew a dagger from his side and tried to threaten Tim who was now towering in the doorway. He threatened to cut the mighty orc warrior in half, but Tim's intimidating prescence was more than enough to make Medarin relinquish his weapon. Keck stormed in the room and began interrogating Medarin. But Medarin, ever the scheming weasel, offered information in exchange for leniency. Keck countered his offer with a slap across the face that even Tim, on the other side of the room, felt echo in his chest. Medarin yielded, pointing at his desk where he kept a key to the chest near his desk. Keck removed it and unlocked the chest. They pulled out several hundred gold pieces. Over the course of the interrogation, the party learned the following:- The South Wind Trading Company had shipped out hundreds, if not thousands, of crates bearing the rose symbol to all the major port cities and some of the larger inland towns;
- There was another warehouse down the docks containing several more crates, but this warehouse was owned by associates of the Southwind;
- Neither Medarin nor Matilde knew what was in the crates;
- Medarin provided the names of several other South Wind members, including: -Ravenna LaGrane - Head of the South Wind in Middlerich -Kaelin Darkhaven - Head of the South Wind in Kilbourne -Elara Vex - Coordinates with regional chapters and ensures "cooperation"; is effectively a ghost-Voren Thorne - Head of the South Wind in Fairshield; previous colleague of Malark from their time in Arrowport
