Session 20

Parker Adams entered The Marvelous Prince Tavern in the morning to greet the Party. They had sent a raven several days earlier with the information on the Hollow Mountain. He told them that while their information was good, it would not be enough to pay their debt. Parker informed the group that they had stirred up quit the hornet's nest after disrupting goblin supply lines and destroying a major logistics hub. The Party shared their knowledge on the location of the goblin camp where they followed Ovrul Rend to the night before. He cautioned the group that the goblins would be coming for them now that they've made themselves known. With that, he departed.   The Party returned to Silverward from Hillfar the following morning. The sunshine warmed their faces as they traveled the 25 miles on horseback without incident. Upon arrival, the group visited several merchants throughout town, including Vinnan Roper at the Ruby Flower Jeweler, Jaqusin Helaxlim at Impetus Alchemy, and Orsik Steelfist at Blackwing Truth. Purchases of spell components and a sale of some jewels acquired from Madelyn Lada's home was made. Eventually, the group decided to head to the Lush Toad Tavern in search of Merimas Stumbletoe, the airship captain.   Nearing their location, a young girl bumped into Typhon, smiled, and bolted into the alleyway nearby. The group chased after her, determined not to let the thief escape. Out of nowhere, a Hobgoblin Iron Shadow appeared and ambushed the group, taking Sir Didymus by surprise. Three more appeared out of the shadows from all directions and immediately attacked the group. The combat was fierce and chaotic as the Iron Shadows teleported in and out of melee range. Sir Didymus nearly died as he took a flurry of blows from a pair of them. Typhon shot a firebolt at one of them, burning her face while he followed up with a Wall of Ice, instantly killing one of the enemies while simultaneously nearly tearing through the wall of a nearby home. Sir Didymus was free to finish the remaining one of the pair. Meanwhile, Bloodbane managed to chase one down to sever its arm. A few darts from an Iron Shadow tore through the flesh of Typhon. A well-placed tidal wave from Vigwalin brought crushing force down on the the last assassin, knocking her prone. Bloodbane finished her off with Ravager.   A search of the bodies revealed a mysterious note:
The one known as the Shadow Walker had attempted to kill them. Parker Adams was right.   Vigwalin resurrected one of the Iron Shadows and the group headed back in search of the airship captain. In the corner they could see a halfling with a maroon leather jacket and long wavy hair standing over the body of a fully grown human telling him that he'd have the money when he has it and not a minute before. But first, they decided to have a little fun. They challenged the patrons to a drinking contest, to which they got one taker. Alas, fortune would not favor the group as their champion - the Iron Shadow zombie - failed to deliver, resulting in the loss of 10gp for Typhon.   The Party approached the barkeeper, a half-elf gentleman named Reydryn Liaris, and inquired about Merimas. Reydryn pointed over to the back corner of the tavern, where the halfling had beaten up the human earlier. The group approached and Merimas told them that he would have the money when he had it. After the mix up was sorted out, they got to talking about a job. Merimas laid out a price of 150 gp; the group accepted.   A moment later, another party of adventurers entered the tavern. Merimas looked past Typhon and the others, recognizing them instantly, and his expression turning sour. The new party approached, and soon Bloodbane and the others recognized them. This was the party that took the gold from the Kobold lair near Hillfar. Their leader, the elf wizard named Jandar, said that they were there to collect Merimas. The Party must now figure out how to handle this new obstacle, or lose their ride to the cloud giants...
