Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Weakened greatly by his fight against Herobrine, but still significantly more powerful than the average human.

Special abilities

Super strength, incredible durability, able to use magic to summon mobs as powerful as Withers that serve his will. Has a primitive form of the Spirit of Hope that amplifies his power the more enraged he becomes. Is able to craft things no one else is able to craft. Can take control of weak-minds through telepathy. Able to throw fire charges. Can separate his soul from his body, allowing him to persist even if his mortal body is destroyed.

Specialized Equipment

Dons a suit of black armor he crafted himself(not Netherite armor, as this does not exist in this era).

Personal history

Vathiros initially began as a man named Keen who kept to himself, until he found a baby girl abandoned by her parents and chose to take care of her, naming her Hazel. As the Diamond War broke out across the Overworld, he and Hazel experienced many injustices inflicted by the militaries of the world as they tried to stay out of the war. Eventually, Hazel would be killed during a skirmish with the Diamond military, and Keen, overcome with hate towards the war and the people a part of it, took it upon himself to force the four nations to submit and end the war. Even when Herobrine was resurrected by the king of the Diamond Kingdom and walked the world for the first time in centuries, Vathiros forced him to respect his power, and Herobrine fled into the Nether. He would go on to conquer three of the four factions and dedicate the resources at his disposal to enforce his ideal justice onto all that were beneath him. Vathiros would be attacked by multiple giants sent by the gods. Vathiros fought and killed them all.
His reign of terror would come to a close when he was challenged by four champions of the four nations, who fought and defeated him, were able to seal his soul into the Nether.
After almost two centuries, Vathiros would find a way to attack the inhabitants of the Overworld in the final years of the Era of Conflict as a part of the Notchborn Prophecy. He would start the Desolation War, a war between the Nether and the Overworld, and be challenged by Steve, who managed to defeat him and seal his spirit away.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Succeeded in conquering the Overworld; Defeated Herobrine in a battle of raw power; Managed to slay giants sent to kill him; Plunged Minecraftia into turmoil a second time during the Desolation War; Was able to defeat and land a death blow against Steve, who was at his prime as the greatest warrior of Minecraftia.

Failures & Embarrassments

Failed to protect Hazel, leading to her death. He would never forgive himself for this; Was sealed into the Nether by four heroes; Was slain by Steve.

Is cunning and manipulative, able to get into his enemies' heads. Typically has multiple layers to his plans.

This was my preferred music theme to listen to when designing this character. As such, I consider it somewhat of Vathiros's theme, if he were to have one(maximum respect to Sephiroth, I'm sure he wouldn't mind sharing this banger, he seems friendly in that way).
Warning: the video spoils Final Fantasy VII Remake boss fight. Apparently, Square Enix loves taking down music uploads unless it spoils the entire final boss fight.

On top of having powers granted to him by Notch by virtue of being crafted by him, Vathiros also gains even more powers as a result of his pact with the god of war, Venge.

Character Prototype

Inspiration is taken from characters like Darth Vader from Star Wars, Kratos from God of War, Dragonborn from Skyrim, Brad Armstrong from Lisa: The Painful, and Sauron from Lord of the Rings.

While Vathiros wields the power of the Spirit of Hope, the version he wields is a primitive version, and is directly fueled by his rage as a result, compared to the finalized version that is fueled by the user's hidden xp bar. This is one reason for him to become hateful over time.

Upon his death, his malicious essence spread across the Nether, infecting the world. Ancient debris, a type of block used to make Netherite and would be added in later updates, would be affected. As a result, Netherite influence can be attributed to Vathiros, a condition which slowly drives wielders of Netherite armor and weapons mad.
