Novus

The Judge

Novus is an entity formed from the mindless programming that makes up the world of Minecraftia. The exact process in which it was created is unknown, however it is believed to be an embodiment of the world itself. It is also believed to be birthed into existence once every one thousand years. The power this entity possesses surpasses that of many of Minecraftian deities, even that of the Patron himself. On the day it is born into existence, it will make its judgement upon humanity.   If Novus deems humanity to be unworthy, it will curse humanity by becoming Null, an entity that is the antithesis of Notch the Creator, which feeds off of negativity and the suffering of living beings in order to fuel it in its attempts to bring an end to all of humanity.   If it deems humanity to be worthy, it may become an ally to humans when the time comes.   Once it is born, its first emotion is happiness upon gaining sentience as it relishes the joy of existential consciousness.

Personal history

The millennia-old prophecy foretold the rise of a new Novus arriving to cast judgement upon the human race. A representative of the human race, a pure-hearted boy named Arlon, was chosen by the Patron to show nothing but the best traits of humanity to Novus and readied for his destiny by the Sapia clan. When the time came for Novus to rise, Arlon however was captured and tragically killed by servants of the god of the Nether, Venge. As hope seemed lost, a pair of time travelers arrived from the future. These time travelers were Emily and David, and David offered himself to be judged by Novus. His possession of the Grand Sword revealed him to be a hero of legend to the Sapia, and so they entrusted the fate of humanity to David.   A Command Block was used to bring Novus forth into the Overworld in the Temple of Creation, and David made his way to meet it. Novus then subjected itself to events from David's life, seen through David's eyes, and was initially horrified by the experiences the hero had gone through. Novus made the rash judgement that David along with all humans were vile beings, and as it prepared to deliver its punishment onto the human race, David attempted to fight the entity, seeing that it could no longer be reasoned with.   After an intense battle, David was defeated by Novus, but right before it could finish him off, Emily stepped in to protect him. Seeing a human willing to give her life to protect another was enough to cause Novus to hesitate, and Emily explained to it how David had been scarred from bad experiences in life, but that in the end he was still chosen as a hero to save people. She then encouraged it to look further through David's memories, to which Novus chose to do so. Reexperiencing David's life with a widened perspective, it saw the horrors as well as the blessings from which his life consisted of. It saw his darkest moments along with his best ones. It was through this that David explained how humans couldn't be labelled as good or evil, but that it depended on the individual, and argued that the human race as a whole should not be punished for the nature of a few.   With its perception of the world changed, Novus agreed with David, deciding that humans were too complex for a single all-encompassing judgement for the species. Novus decided that humanity was worthy of existence and vanished.   In the end of the timeline, after the events of Usurpatorkrig, Novus, a wise being that has existed for thousands of years by this point, returns to the Overworld after Steve and Alex successfully defeat Null. Steve requests that Novus restore the world to the way it was before the events of Usurpatorkrig. Novus warns that such an action will not restore Steve and Alex's godhood-that they would remain as ordinary humans in the new world. He also warns that the gods that had fallen during the apocalyptic event would not be brought back to life. The two decide that the price is worth it, and so Novus restores Minecraftia to the state it had been before the apocalypse. It then returns into the base programming of the world.
