Tonarus Craust
General
Tonarus Craust is a Mésvéstellian Vampire Researcher from Jothamé.
He is the adoptive parent of Little Lily and a well-known member of the Anvelian Guild since a few years prior to current events. A frequent visitor of the World Ends Inn, he is most often found in the Wellspring Hall during the evening gatherings.
Origin
A vampire from Jothamé, Tonarus was initially discovered by Leno Mídanstell and Evelyn Arcasai in the Basement of World Ends Inn as he came sprinting out a Door of Somewhere to escape a Raw Vesen.
Wounded and in chock, he was quickly taken to the Cericor Hospital for recovery. A few days afterward, he was visited by the same ones who discovered him, and they had assembled several questions from the other guild members; after all, it was not every day someone jumped out of a Door of Somewhere.
At the end of the day Tonarus was asked if he wanted to join their Guild and he, intrigued by all that he had already seen, thanked yes.
Personality
Personality wise, Tonarus is a kindhearted man, at least when one gets to know him. One thing that also becomes apparent when you stay at his side for quite a while, is his relatively dark humor, which usually springs up in sour or irritating moments. He might also — especially if he have one too many drinks — try it out when he feels flirtatious, though it rarely works out well.
Apparel
Usually, Tonarus is dressed in a white shirt underneath a simple light-brown west with copper buttons. Over that, he wears a trenchcoat given to him by Endrise Fabulae, as his old one was in too bad of a condition after his encounter with the Raw Vesen. He at least managed to keep his old tricorn hat, even though it nearly contains more holes than leather. Without it, he would not have survived; it is his lucky hat after all.
Equipment
Sword cane
Tonarus carries with him at all times a black-colored metallic cane with a handle the shape of a raven beak. It contains a master-smithed rapier blade and when drawn, a crossguard in the shape of raven wings will extend outwards. Due to its carrier's nature, it is heavier than one might first think but Tonarus — and other strong-muscled individuals — mentions that it is extremely well-balanced.
Research tome
Tonarus carries with him a research tome, one he got from his former master's acquaintance, the well-known researcher Levi Caligue. Within it, he has several detailed pages regarding Mésvéstellian monsters and beasts, as well as curses. Ever since Tonarus arrived in Varldstan Cericor, its content has grown considerably.
Appearance
Tonarus is rather short for a vampire, having a height of about 160 centimeters. He has pale skin and pale red eyes, the latter of which might offset people. His hair is short-cropped and has a natural golden blonde shade.
Profession
Wellspring Researcher
After became an official member of the Anvelian Guild the thing that caught his interest more than anything was without a doubt the nature of the Anvelian Wellspring; especially so when he learned that sometimes creatures and people crawled out of it.
Over the last thirty years, he has studied the Wellsrping as best he has been able. This has extended towards whatever have been taken out of it, and has crawled out of it.
Hobbies
Researching monsters and beasts.
In pastimes, Tonarus mostly does research on various monsters and beasts, as that was his profession in his old life. Even if he had only been apprenticed under his former master for about five years, he knows a great deal about the various deadly and supernatural fauna ... in Mésvéstell. For creatures that have their origin from Miand'Més or from Old Reminiscence, he is completely in the unknown. Something he does his best to fix.
Researching curses.
Curses are rare phenomena in Mésvéstell, much more so than in Miand'Més and in Concord. Most use minor ones to better guard their possessions and similar practical reasons. Tonarus became very intrigued by their nature and has made it a hobby of his to study some of the more common ones in his quarters down at the Basement of World Ends Inn.
