Following the dark and destructive Sanguine Age, a constrained peace was accepted among the world's nations in an effort to regain what had become lost during centuries of war and death.

Skirmishes had blossomed from time to time, but nothing major. The Exalted Movement and the effort to retake the Severed Continent has strained the armies and resources of nearly every nation, but there has been a noticeable increase in border tensions in recent years. Many fear war yet again. Other see with welcoming eyes. This coming war might be different than the others that have come previously. Or it will be exactly the same. Only time will tell.  

This is the Ashen Age.
