Districts
The Crowned Green
The innermost ring, the Crowned Green is a beautiful collection of carefully designed buildings and gardens that mingle together like an intricate knot of stone and greenery.
Gracile
One of the inner rings, Gracile is the shopping and entertainment district. It's a mixed bag if you are to live there, because on one hand, most amenities are close at hand, but there is hardly any rest, as the streets are never dark, nor quiet.
There are rules about the colors that can be used on facades, so as to keep the aesthetics of the district cohesive. This means that the streets are lined by white stone buildings with black iron signs (cleaned often to keep from rusting) and golden lights. Even the "red light" street is only different in that its glass shop windows do not have dress on mannequins on display, but scantily clad humanoids trying their best to entice those outside to step within.
House of Industry
Old, run down, and with paint peeling off the walls, the House of Industry is tucked into the back alleys, where none of Brillante's enforcers of aesthetic will see its ugliness.
Skatr's presence in Brillante means that Politia's worship is subtly discouraged - and so funding to upkeep her temple is scarce, with only what the merchants and scant patrons can (or will) spare to keep her temple up and running.
Though beyond it's disagreeable appearance is a welcoming home for all those that seek guidance, and human cleric and caretaker Gerard tends small altars to all the "good" deities (as is generally agreed upon in civilized society). His effigies to the gods are all extremely biased towards his own interpretations of the deities, but seeing as how most do not have a place of worship at all, their faithful will take what they can get.
Halce Arrondissement
Pronunciation: HALK Ah-rhon-dees-mahnt
On the outer rings of the city is the orcish district - a cultural hub for the orcs. Most of them come from the country of Valsáth, but that was a long time ago.
The Brillantan of Halce are more drawn together by their own shared ethnic background than a loyalty to their home country. It is a poorer area of the city - though still nowhere near as destitute as the undercity.
Here you will find stout, practical folk that raise the hunting animals, weave the cloths, and hammer out the silver that will be sold in Gracile.
The River District
One of the outer rings is the River District, situated around a man-made river that snakes around the next inner ring known as the Diamond River, which itself is flush against the white-washed wall of the next ring.
The most desirable homes in this district back up directly on the Diamond River, with private docks and boats to take a lazy cruise around the river. Some will even use it as a mode of transport to call upon friends or relations.
Rue Outremer
Pronunciation: ROO-truh-mare
On the further outskirts of the city is Rue Outremer - Blue Street - so named for the many, many buildings with blue roofs and matching blue flowers in the garden beds. It is a gathering spot for the less affluent of Brillante, with shops, restaurants, and services that are more affordable gathering places (while still being respectable).
Filigree's Folly
A restaurant and inn, Filigree's Folly serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, tea, dinner, and supper, with menus for each.
There is a garden out back with several flowering plants, bushes, benches, and a small fountain, where you can either enjoy your meal or rent one of ten cabins that can be found down a meandering path of white gravel.
Each cabin has a tiny porch, with a wrought iron table and two chairs upon it. Inside, there is a small sitting room area with a partition into the bedroom with a large bed and open archway into the bathroom, with a bathtub seated right underneath a window into the gardens. The walls are painted with scenes of play and frolicking - animal and humanoid - and the bathrooms have floral wallpapers or paintings, with only one (Cabin 7) having a scene of a beach or a lake.
