Politia

Goddess of civilization, invention, and travel

It is not uncommon for civilization to be personified as exceedingly rigid, organized, and devoid of heart. Not so for Politia (POLL-eh-she-ah).

Civilization is messy. Invention is messy. Hell, even traveling is messy (ever tried to get out the door on time for a trip?).

Politia is the personification of the best of humanity when it works together, with all its chaotic disorganization. Of course, that doesn't mean she's without structure - at a certain point, life needs a plan, and she is there to provide it.

Physical Description

Facial Features

Politia is shorter than the other deities by tradition (most claim this is because she's closer to humanity), with tanned skin from her time out in the sun and close-cropped (almost shaved) brown, curly hair. Her face and shoulders are usually sunburnt and freckled, with a farmer's tan that even reaches her feet and leave criss-crosses of pale skin across the tops of her feet where her sandal straps laid flush against her skin.

Apparel & Accessories

Generally, Politia is depicted as a traveler, with well-worn shoes and leading a donkey laden with goods. What those goods are depends on the artist, as they generally include things that they themselves find important for a journey or important spheres of Politia's power. She generally has a wine jug either in her free hand or prominently tied down on her beast of burden.

Relationship Reasoning

These two goddesses will always clash, as Politia's realms demand control and organization, whilst Kona-Karr's realms are all about freedom and wilderness.

Commonalities & Shared Interests

The two find some common ground in the aspects of farming and animal husbandry, but neither is wholly satisfied (Kona-Karr frustrated by the necessary restrictions on freedom, and Politia because nature cannot be fully tamed and controlled). Farmers tend to worship both: Politia for the crop rotations and continued safety of their buildings and farmland, and Kona-Karr to safeguard their animals and fields (particularly during calfing season and harvest time).

Commonalities & Shared Interests

If Politia is a goddess of the people, then Skatr is a god against the people. He sees himself and his faithful as better than the riff-raff that make up "civilization," and will stop at nothing subjugate and trample the weak under their heel. Politia despises Skatr for this reason, and Skatr sees Politia as a sentimental, soft-headed fool.

Commonalities & Shared Interests

Both Politia and Grund are seen as "the people's gods," but Politia is normally seen as one of the people, while Grund is a caretaker of the people. They get along quite well, with Politia as a surrogate daughter or niece to Father Earth (again, filling in her role as "one of the people," who also look to Grund as a paternal figure).
