Maelon Valyr

Bio

Maelon Valyr was an only child of the main branch and a prime example of everything an heir of the Valyr family should be. Not only talented in a variety of skills from combat to intrigue, but also without the arrogance that would feel the need to show such talents off. From early childhood Maelon proved to be a charismatic, but cautious and methodical leader who held himself and those who followed him to high standards and always endeavoured to bring out the best in people. During a chance encounter during his Rite of passage while leading a small mercenary group known as The Sharp Blades, he was introduced to the woman who would become his life partner. He recognized Ashara's untapped potential from very early on and made it his mission to bring that potential to the surface. The greatest joy in his life were those lessons where he never ceased to be amazed at how quickly the somewhat ignorant woman he first met managed to pick things up and even after they had married and she had learned all he had to teach, their favourite pastime was to continue hosting these lessons and teaching one another about whatever they had read about or thought of as they ruled the Valyr family. This tight and unbreakable partnership along with his Wife's unique perspective as someone from a distant land and culture, allowed the Valyr family to achieve many of it's goals in secret, binding more Old families to it's side and exerting more political and economic influence over Volantis as a whole than they had in generations. However it was Maelon's perfectionist nature that made him choose to stay behind during the Doom to ensure as many of the Valyr family's people and assets made it out as possible, organizing the ordered retreat. It was thanks to Maelon's sacrifice that the Valyr managed to hold on to much of it's position and influence in the post Doom world, and that the new ambitions of the family could blossom.
