Maelena Valyr is the middle child of the family. While Maelor's talent blossomed early and Maelyra's antics took much of their parents' attention, Maelena could be seen as someone who flew under the radar for her early childhood. Like her elder brother, she found little talent in the money making side of business and had a more military focused education under her mother's insistence that a young woman should have the means to defend herself, wherever she ends up. Maelena found a passion for fighting, though she lagged far behind her brother in the rest of her lessons, a point of which they often bickered about with Maelena taking delight in breaking her Brother's serious face, something which would become a life long hobby. The doom would be a turning point for her like everyone else. In those unspeakable flames of disaster, Maelena saw the blinding fury of R'hllor that demanded a great change in their way of life. While Maelena was a long time follower of her elder brother and continued acting as his lieutenant, she was also perhaps the most fervent supporter of her Mother's great ambitions, with the belief that the ancient Valyr's stance of hoarding power and influence in the shadows may have contributed to R'hllor's rage. In the post doom world, Maelena actively uses her popularity in both the Military circles as an extremely talented fighter and in the Religious circles as a devout follower of the lord of Light to steer public support towards the reforms and changes brought forward by her Mother as well as the ideology of the Phoenix Reformation in general. Her Rite of Passage was similar in this regard, but took her beyond the rebuilding Freehold, anonymously traveling wherever the Worshipers of R'hllor could be found and spreading the doctrine, bringing a lot of support to the rebuilding process from the faithful across the land as well as a lot of unrest in areas still beholden to older traditions.
