Description

Appearance

Tia'wraithe is a bronze dragonborn with tarnished scales that make her appear almost black. She is fairly slender for a dragonborn, but lithe in build. Her throat and front of her torso are a pale white. Her eyes are an electric blue, as with many of the bronze dragonborn. She wears a weathered, sleeveless grey long coat that she keeps open. Around her waist is a patterned sash, mostly maroon in color, which holds up her baggy, brown and black pants that only go down a few inches past her knees. She wears a brown, leather tricorn hat and has been known to carry a cutlass and a rapier.

Personality

Tia'wraithe is a rambunctious young dragonborn with a disarming charm to her. While outwardly confident, she harbors deep insecurities about her self worth and a resentment toward her former clan. Though the mask rarely slips, she cannot hide a drive to prove herself, taking on any challenge and silencing any doubts of her capabilities.

Biography

Background

Born as Bozak Tia'wraithe, she was the younger of two siblings born to the helmsman of the Stormcaller and his mate. In her youth, Tia'wraithe showed a notable knack for problem solving and had the charisma of a natural born leader. Hoping to follow in the path of her brother, Bozak Cy'wraithe, she trained and studied hard to become a captain of her own ship in the Clan Bozak floatilla. This would never come to be, as her brother was overbearing and protective to the point where her abilities and knowledge were called into question. Without being able to prove herself without Cy'wraithe stepping in somehow, it was assumed that all of her accomplishments were just her riding her brother's coattails. When Tia'wraithe begged for the opportunity to prove herself, she was lent an older ship and a small crew to handle some pirates. Unaware that she was performing a feint manuever, Cy'wraithe rushed his ship to her aide and sank the criminal vessel in her place.   Branded inept and a coward, Tia'wraithe was denied ever holding the possibility of being in a leadership position on any of the Bozak fleet. When she confronted her brother about what he had cost her and begged him to make things right with the admiral and the Praetor, Cy'wraithe could not swallow his pride to do so. He would even go so far as to refuse to even apologize to Tia'wraithe for his actions, saying that she would have made a terrible captain because her ruse wouldn't have worked anyway.   Heartbroken and furious, Tia'wraithe's scales began to tarnish as she came to the conclusion that she was universally hated by the clan for how they saw her. By the time any of her family members or the crew of the ship realized how bad it had gotten for her, Tia'wraithe had jumped overboard, attempting to drown herself. Her instincts would kick in, however, when a sea serpent came to eat her. Unable to prevent herself from fighting back, she struggled with the creature for over an hour when a passing ship saw the commotion. Quickly coming to her rescue, the ship's crew pulled her up after slaying the sea serpent.   It didn't take long for Tia'wraithe to realize she had been taken in by pirates. Recognizing the all female crew to be Sisters of the Sea, she kept silent, knowing her clan had been long standing enemies with the pirate fleet. Eventually the care and kindness they showed her opened her heart enough to talk to her rescuers. Compelled to help due to her life being spent on a ship, Tia'wraithe would often make suggestions to make things run more efficiently on the ship and even helped improve some of the captain's battle strategies. When they got to a port to drop her off, many of the crew begged her to stay on, and feeling appreciated and recognized for the first time in her life, Tia'wraithe accepted.   Her knowledge and experience outshone many of the veteran pirates, moving her up the ranks quickly. When a captain position opened with the retirement of a crew, a unanimous vote was cast for the position to be given to Tia'wraithe, just two years after joining. Now captain of The Broken Mirror, her first act as captain was to sail near the Bozak floatilla. Knowing her brother had become the captain of her birth ship, Tia'wraithe used the same feinting manuever with her new ship that she had for her test of worth. Falling for the trap, the crew of the Stormcaller was in shock when the crew of The Broken Mirror disabled their rudder and main mast before boarding. Stunned to see the tarnished sister he thought dead, Cy'wraithe could only watch as her crew incapacitated his without casualties on either side.   Taking all valuables and food except what was needed to return to the floatilla, Tia'wraithe confronted her brother again, asking if he thought her tactics needed improvement or assistance. Furious, he attacked and, as if anticipating this response, Tia'wraithe's crew stood back and watched the duel as if they had been commanded not to interfere. Though he bested her, Cy'wraithe could not kill his little sister and allowed her to leave as he would have been killed already had she wished it. Forced to return defeated and shamed, Cy'wraithe filed his report with the admiral and praetor. Outraged that one of their own had turned to piracy and attacked them, the Bozak leaders denounced her as part of the clan and issued a worldwide bounty and standing orders to kill on sight for Tia'wraithe. She is now wanted in several nations, each with a varying amount for her death or capture, but Clan Bozak makes sure to keep theirs highest so that she is brought to them to be dealt with.   Periodically, Tia'wraithe will return to attack her brother's ship, each time with a different tactic. The result mirrors the first in every way, each and every time.

Relationships

Bozak Cy'wraithe

Despite her hardships caused almost exclusively by her brother, Tia'wraithe still loves him. It is presumed of all that happened to her, it was Cy'wraithe's dismissal of her abilities to save himself from embarrassment that caused her spirit to break enough to tarnish her. This seems to be especially true as she is highly recognized as one of the best sailors in the world, but the luster has not returned to her scales. Many believe she is seeking her brother's acknowledgement by returning to his ship and out manuevering him each time.

Sisters of the Sea

While beloved by her crew and the rest of the fleet, Tia'wraithe still remains rather closed off from them. When in command, she is often the most boisterous and cheerful, but when gathering for functions or celebration she will often remain quiet or even recluse herself. Her crew knows she is hurting, but have no way to help her. Many in her ranks have come to suspect what she had been trying to do when they first found her and have secretly posted watch over their captain to ensure she doesn't try again.
