Vanar-Hale

When Duke Herkemer Von HughGraven was defeated at the Battle of Ilserock, the Volinskian Archmage Amasis Zorin protected the abandoned Tarquinrock castle by binding a planetar (angel) to watch over it. This planetar, whose name was Vanar-Hale, appeared over Trinsk to protect it from evil while the land was left without the protection of the Duke.
Although Vanar-Hale offered protection for the people of Trinsk from the dark forces that are so prevalent in Volinsk, his presence soon became a problem for the people, who could not live up to the angelic ideals and strident laws that Vanar-Hale put upon them. The day to day operations of the merchants guild and thieves guild were interrupted violently, while strict curfews and temperance laws forced a level of oppression on the citizens that was theretofore unknown to them.
In an attempt to bring life to Trinsk back to normal, the head of the Trinsk Merchant's Guild; Sirius Nabakov(character), and Grigori Grecu; a high ranking member of the Crooked Beak Thieves Guild, contacted Manfred Von HughGraven. They promised Manfred that should he and his compatriots defeat Vanar-Hale and free Trinsk from his oppression, they would back any claim he made to arising to the position of Duke of Trinsk.
