Maxim Richter the Elder

Count Maxim Richter the Elder was a good friend and feudal subordinate of Duke Herkemer Von HughGraven.  Maxim's entire family line was destroyed by Manfred Von HughGraven as he rose to assume the title of Duke of Trinsk. 
Maxim's sons Maxim the Lesser and Gregor, were killed during the Battle of Ilserock. 
Maxim's wife, daughters, and grandchildren were murdered in his estate while he was out of town on a diplomatic entreaty to Duchess Duska Martinova.
Maxim himself was killed in the Safe Travelers' Inn by Battis Hedgecrook after an unsuccessful attempt to block Manfred Von HughGraven from assuming ducal power in Trinsk.

Circumstances of Death

Murdered by an assassin who had taken the guise of his late wife. Maxim's death was engineered to inflict maximum pain and horror upon him.
