Koros Island
Located in the Eastern Ocean, Koros island is a popular destination for wealthy Laklorens to visit. Surrounded by sparling seas, and populated by lush trees and grass, it is a picteresque place.
History
Once the ancestral home of the Korune people, they are now almost extinct. Through systematic efforts to eradicate the Korune, they were starved, cut off from resources, forced to adopt Lakloren culture, and viewed as subhuman. The Korune women were seen as desirable and exotic, while the men were proud and violent. For the first four hundred years of the Lakloren dynesty, it was legal to own Korune slaves, so long as they were at least half Korune. As a result, many people were shipped off the island, and onto the mainland to work. The practice was abolished in 424 NE, but still some Korune remain as unpaid employees to wealthy Laklorens. After an uprising in 566, a law was declared forcing Korune people off the island and onto Ikani Island nearby, where they lived in a pinal colony, unable to leave. In 900 NE, the Korune were declared extinct. All that is left of that race, is a few ruined monuments to their gods on Koros Island.
Tourism
Koros island is a popular vacation spot for Lakloren nobles, due to the scenic beaches, warm sea, and good food. Many noble families own vacation estates there, where they live for parts of the year. Most notably, Seabridge castle, on the nearby island of Seabridge, is the home of the Duke of Alexondre, one of the most powerful families in the nation.
