Everyday use
Hot Fires
A Fire of lit Charcoal can be made to burn hotter than a fire of Wood, and cleaner than a fire of Coal. This is generally required for working Metals.
Very Hot Fires
A Fire of lit Charcoal can assisted by Bellows be made to burn hotter than a fire of Charcoal alone and this is needed if Iron is to be Smelted or Forged and Magical fire is not to be resorted to.
Making Marks
Artists are always in need of making marks, and Charcoal makes clear black marks that can be easily worked.
Medicine
Charcoal is used in medicine for certain cures - both as an ingested item and for applying appropriate runes during healing rituals.
Alchemy
Charcoal is used in Alchemy both as a filter for removing impurities in substances and as an ingredient for certain products.
