Earth Rune
The Earth Rune is one of the Elements from which the world is constructed. Indeed, Maerl is used both as the name of the world (at least by the land dwellers) and of the elemental spirit (Rhad-Maerl) that embodies this Rune.
History & Usage
History
The Earth Rune is closely tied to the Rune for Rocks and Mountains and for the deep places under the earth. When the World of the Aethyr Rune divided itself to create the Physical World, Earth was one of the 4 physical Elements that appeared in that process. Some argue that these two runes, Earth and Rock never properly separated and this can be seen by the comonality of the elemental form that can be invoked to appear in the physical world. Others argue that they are the embodiment of permanence and that thus the division is in fact percieved not real.
