Branuth Character in Macalgra | World Anvil

Branuth

The Scholar Paladin Branuth

Turning his back all all he had been taught, Branuth dared to exchange his tomes for the sword and shield of a paladin after becoming disillusioned by his order's passiveness in the world's conflicts. What he doesn''t have in physical strength and fighting prowess, he makes up for his almost encyclopediac knowledge of the lands and customs.

Personal history

Born to an influential Cura family in Curaslin, Branuth wiled away his childhood in the extensive libraries only his family and their chosens were allowed in. It was here he read about the Cura culture, their customs, and their history. It was here that he learnt about Kho Alehi, the Healer God, and how he turned his back on the Cura ancestors when their worship turned from divine guidance to hubris over the other mortals of the realm. To the young Branuth, nothing would bring his family more prestige than being the Cura who brought their holy god back into the fold of the people, and so after much pleading, he was accepted into the Order of the White, an organisation dedicated to Kho Alehi and the god's ideals.   He would only stay with them until his young adulthood, when he grew bored and restless of the order's passive ways. His views on the lesser species of the realm also caused friction with his peers, and after some time, left the order to go into the wide world. He exchanged his tomes for a paladins sword and shield, and set out to spread the word of Kho Alehi and sate his hunger for glory.

    Attacks
To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell's level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.

You prepare the list of cleric spells that are available for you to cast, choosing from the cleric spell list. When you do so, choose a number of cleric spells equal to your Wisdom modifier + your cleric level (minimum of one spell). The spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots.

You can change your list of prepared spells when you finish a long rest.

Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your cleric spells. You use your Wisdom whenever a cleric spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Wisdom modifier when Setting the saving throw DC for a cleric spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Spell Attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

    Flaws
    - library access: Though others must often endure extensive interviews and significant fees to gain access to even the most common archives in your library, you have free and easy access to the majority of the library, though it might also have repositories of lore that are too valuable, magical,or secret to permit anyone immediate access. You have a working knowledge of your cloister's personnel and bureaucracy, and you know how to navigate those connections with some ease. Additionally, you are likely to gain preferential treatment at other libraries across the Realms, as professional courtesy shown to a fellow scholar.
  • Cold resistance
  • Cura heritage: advantage saving throws against fall damage
  • Levitate
  • Cleric Life Domain
  • Heavy armour
  • Disciple of Life: starting at 1st level, whenever you use a spell of 1st level or higher to restore hit points to a creature, the creature regains additional hit points equal to 2 + the spell's level.
  • Channel Life- Preserve Life: Starting at 2nd level, as an action, you present your holy symbol and evoke healing energy that can restore a number of hit points equal to five times your cleric level. Choose any creatures within 30 feet of you, and divide those hit points among them. This feature can restore a creature to no more than half of its hit point maximum. You can't use this feature on an undead or a construct.
