Dragon King

The Dragon King is the absolute ruler of Dragonkind, the bearer of the Dragon Crown, and guardian of the Dragon species and the city of Sarirpala. There have been comparatively few Dragon Kings over the history of the species, due to their near-immortality. The present and third Dragon King is Elaji, a Fairy Dragon. The previous two Dragonkings were Savahe and Tavirer, both Diamond Dragons.
The Dragon King is chosen by the Dragon Crown; they are the only individual able to wear it without suffering permanent physical harm. Both subsequent Dragonkings have been reincarnations of Savahe, who was chosen by the Nameless First Dragon before he slumbered.
