Session 26 - Return to the Watermill.
General Summary
Ivan and Lada returned from talking with Vashti the next day to join for the funeral of Sister Irina. The whole village was there to mourn the passing of Irina and the other villagers. Ivan and Lada did not leave the graveyard after the procession was done. Not wishing to return to the village after the funeral, they sought the help of Sister Evdokia in arranging for Lada's things to be brought to them from her house.
A nearby woman by the name of Alena agreed to do so, meeting with the strange 'guests' of the house, the "cat" and the "doughball "doughball". The doughball, not wanting Lada's stuff to be stolen, joined the woman Alena. When she returned, she explained that she wanted to travel with the party; her husband had been killed in the fighting, and she wanted the Volkhvy to pay.
However, Ivan had another plan. He thought he might be able to convince the the tsar of the forest that he should not be working with the Volkhvy. But in order to do this, he needed to get his attention. And what better way to do so than to restore the watermill that Ivan had started to repair previously. And thus, after soliciting the aid of Oleg the Boatman to help ferry them across the Osochenka in avoidance of the village, the party of Alena, Lada, Ivan, Prokhor, and the doughball went into the forest.
After all, the critters of the forest seemed to be curious about what Ivan was doing, and as such, would be the eyes and ears for the tsar. After returning, Ivan, Alena and Prokhor resumed the work of repairing the mill, while Lada explored the surrounding woods. It was nearby to the watermill that Lada collected some sap with magical properties from a A rusalka. Terrified that she had accidentally made a deal to get it, it seems like the Rusalka planned to take the lives away from Prokhor and Ivan, as part of her vendetta against men. However, when the Rusalka confronted them, Prokhor was instead enamored, and when Ivan asked if she was here on behalf of the king of the forest, she quickly ran away in the form of a fuzzy creature.
A similar fuzzy creature had been seen by Prokhor the night before - a large cat with bunny ears, that seems to have stolen the magical sap.
