A grandmother in Malinka
This is an old grandmother who Svetlana stayed with after her return to Malinka. At the time, she was not speaking to Yuri, and sought shelter with an old woman whose son had ridden off with the Archbishop for the winter. Zorina, solicited by Yuri to get Svetlana to talk to him, gained entry into the hut by buttering the grandmother up, but shortly after being invited in, the fox shapechanger heard the sound of wolves outside the gates. She later tried to get Svetlana and the grandmother to flee, and dug a gate on the far side of the estate fence, but the grandmother said she was too old to walk, and encouraged the two young women to flee without her.
As Grey Wolf's forces conquered Malinka that night, it is almost certain that the grandmother is now dead.
