Kirach
Carved into the fiery heart of Mount Kirach, the kingdom of Kirach is the beating engine of dwarven civilization in Aeshethar. It is the largest and most powerful of the two dwarven kingdoms, ruling not only over its own people but also over the settlements of other species, including Humans, Eladrin, and Goliaths, who have long sought the security and prosperity that Kirach offers. Its towering halls, illuminated by the glow of molten metal, house some of the greatest artisans in the world, and its forges produce weapons, armor, and constructs beyond compare. Kirach is not merely a city—it is a crucible of ingenuity and resilience, where stone and fire are bent to the will of master craftsmen. While Bunkuhm guards the wisdom of the past, Kirach forges the future, shaping the world one hammer strike at a time.
Government
Kirach is ruled by King Graldor Ironthane, a leader as unyielding as the steel he forges. He is a ruler of action and ambition, overseeing the vast industrial might of the kingdom with a keen eye for both craft and conquest. Unlike the more contemplative leadership of King Durrok Stoneheart in Bunkuhm, Graldor is ever forward-thinking, seeking ways to expand Kirach’s influence across Aeshethar and beyond.
Beneath him, the Council of Masters governs various aspects of Kirach’s prosperity, each seat occupied by the foremost experts in smithing, stonecraft, arcane metallurgy, trade, and warcraft. Their word carries immense weight, and few would dare challenge the collective authority of these legendary artisans and tacticians.
As the regional capital, Kirach also oversees settlements belonging to other species. While the governance of these settlements is often left to their own leaders, they ultimately answer to Graldor’s authority, paying tribute in the form of raw materials, labor, or trade goods.
Defences
Kirach’s military is unmatched in strength and technological innovation, with legions of steel-clad warriors, rune-inscribed siege engines, and flame-wielding constructs at its command. The Ironflame Legion, the kingdom’s elite force, is armed with weapons infused with elemental fire, their armor forged in the depths of Mount Kirach itself. These warriors march into battle as living embodiments of Kirach’s burning will.
Kirach’s fortifications are without equal, with massive lava-moated walls and warded stone gates that can withstand even the most determined siege. The kingdom’s construct forges allow for the mass production of war golems, sentinels of metal and fire that defend Kirach’s halls tirelessly.
Despite its military might, Kirach prefers to dominate through trade and industry rather than conquest. However, should any kingdom threaten its supremacy, Kirach is more than capable of raining down molten fury upon its enemies.
Industry & Trade
Kirach is the economic powerhouse of Aeshethar, its industry rivaling even the grandest human cities. The kingdom’s forges produce an endless supply of weapons, armor, siege engines, enchanted alloys, and constructs, sought after by kings, warlords, and scholars across the continent. The Runeclad, an elite order of dwarven enchanters, ensure that Kirach’s steel is second to none—imbued with enchantments that make them near indestructible.
Kirach trades extensively with Bunkuhm, relying on its smaller sibling to supply soulstone, obsidian, and deepcrystal, which are then refined and fused into new alloys. Human and eladrin merchants from across Aeshethar travel to Kirach’s massive Stonegate Market, bartering for everything from battle-ready golems to intricately runed jewelry.
The Flamebound Pact has also given Kirach a unique position in the magical economy. Fire mages and scholars from across the land seek the knowledge of elemental forging, hoping to replicate Kirach’s mastery over bound fire spirits. However, the secrets of elemental alloy infusion remain closely guarded, known only to the kingdom’s most trusted smiths.
Guilds and Factions
Religion & Culture
Unlike Bunkuhm, which remains steadfast in its reverence for Thalugarn and the sacred nature of soulstone, Kirach is a kingdom of fire and ambition. Though the Divine is still acknowledged, the dominant cultural belief here is that Izelphur’s fire is the ultimate force of creation—and those who master that fire, master creation. Dwarves in Kirach see themselves as shapers of destiny, molding the world as a smith molds iron.
The Inferno Halls deep within the mountain serve as places where dwarves gather in the presence of eternal flames said to be lit by Izelphur himself. Here, priests known as Flamekeepers tend to the fires, offering molten gold and steel as tribute, believing that only through fire is true worth revealed.
The kingdom also hosts grand smithing tournaments, where artisans and warriors alike compete to forge the mightiest blade or craft the most exquisite armor. These events are not just for sport; they are sacred contests, where the greatest artisans earn eternal glory.
History
The Flamebound Uprising
Centuries ago, the mountain was shaken by a fire elemental uprising, a cataclysmic event that nearly destroyed Kirach from within. The infernos raged uncontrollably, consuming entire halls and threatening to collapse the kingdom under its own volcanic fury. But rather than exterminate the elementals, the dwarves of Kirach bound them into servitude, forging a pact that endures to this day. Now, the Flamebound, as they are called, serve within the deepest forges, channeling their power into the metalwork of Kirach. Their living fire tempers weapons, strengthens alloys, and breathes new life into constructs of molten steel.
At the heart of the kingdom lies the Forge of Izelphur, a place where the dwarves believe the great fire genie Izelphur himself once walked. Kirach sees Izelphur's flame as a gift, his presence lingering in every ember. Legends say that the greatest artisans hear his whispers, guiding their hands to craft weapons and artifacts of legendary renown.
