Eladrin
The Eladrin, plant-elves born from the ancient, awakened trees of the world, are a species deeply connected to the natural world. Each Eladrin is budded from an Eldar, a majestic treant or treefolk, which they revere as both parent and protector. These mystical elves view the towering, sentient trees as the heart of their existence, and their bond with their Eldar shapes their lives and communities.
Stewardship Beyond the Groves
Eladrin dwell in groves and vast forests, where their connection to nature is strongest. However, their role as stewards of nature extends beyond their forested homes. Groups of Eladrin are often sent to key natural locations, such as oases, lakes, or islands, to ensure that these vital landscapes are protected and nurtured. They understand the balance between the natural world and the role humanoid species play within it, and they strive to act as responsible shepherds wherever natural resources are used, guiding others toward sustainable practices.
The Corruption of Contempt
Despite their deep love for the natural world, the burden of their stewardship can take a toll. Some Eladrin grow bitter over time, watching humanoids carelessly exploit the land they protect. When this bitterness turns into contempt, an Eladrin’s nature becomes warped. These once-noble guardians become twisted into Blights, their bodies corrupted by decay and rot or thorns, reflecting their hatred. These genocidal blights unleash their fury upon humanoid life, seeking to destroy the very balance they once sought to preserve, transforming the world around them into a decaying wasteland.
