Eldershear
Approach from the ground in the region of Ebonvale into the area known as Galereach and you will find the rocky Galereach Hills--plateaus that scour the center and northeast Ebonvale, surrounding Infernal Peak and bordering the Prism Forest that runs the west to south area. There, in the southern reaches of Galereach Hills is a singular plateau that stands apart from the rest. Taller than any others, it appears like an upside down stem of a champagne glass, a distinct stone pillar rising high into the air. Lifting into the sky, reaching the top takes you far above the nearby Prism Forest. What was once a barren chunk of earth has been completely covered by a massive city, the city of Eldershear.
Many choose to end their journey here upon finding peace in the protection of the grand city. Protected by an ancient magic, the only way in or out of the city is by flying--be it be with wings, a spell, mount, teleportation circle, portal magic, or airship. Many claim the magic barrier and continued protection is due to the deity known as Bahamut.
Eldershear is the capital city of Ebonvale, and some would even say the world itself. Its population dwarfs that of Embermaul, Jadewyn, and even Dreamshire. It is well known as the home of the strongest and the elite and many of powerful or well known guilds call this city home, including The Enforcers, Crimson Shadow, and the three of the Five Star Diamond Guilds including: Strands of Destiny and Diabolical Dissension. With an overall population of around ten thousand individuals and hundreds of visitors every day, the Almasi Guard rely on the guilds to help protect the city when needed. Groups such as Temporis Alliance and the Order of Eon Tempus even have embassies within the city, as do other prominent city governments including the capital cities like Dreamshire.
Each deity holds a place of worship in the Temple District, the only true temples of them still fully functional since their original temples were all abandoned after the disappearance. And while worship of all deities is encouraged and supported, Eldershear's biggest worship goes to Bahamut, the deity of fire whose main dominance fell over Ebonvale.
One of the more interesting virtues of the city is there are no low-class slums or rundown areas. Not to say crime doesn't exist, as with any large gathering of sentience, darkness and evil are always lurking. But between the protection of the Almasi Guard and the guilds, along with the constant revamping of the city, the overall appearance and safety of the city and its citizens is rather magnificent. The city of Eldershear has gone so far as to ban fighting within its border.

Defences
There is a barrier wall around the edge of the city purely to keep drunkards from literally walking off the edge and plummeting to their deaths. The true defense of the city is one, its location, and two, the magic barrier that encompasses it. There are trained soldiers as well that protect its citizens known as the Almasi Guard.
Industry & Trade
While there are master craftsmen and women who make plenty of goods, the city relies heavily on imports, especially agriculture. There are gardens, but most of the food in the city comes from neighboring regions or from the fishermen who fish the Draconic Sea. The city makes most of its money through the guilds and their contract work.

Eldershear Guild Society
An organization created in Eldershear, it is operated by Zeakin Dremli, a male aasimar with pale skin, black hair, and red eyes. He is a strong looking male, and tends to all that relates to the registration and regulation of lawful guilds within the world. To be inducted into the society allows the purchase of a guild hall and for their members to take on jobs specifically sent to the guild society. The society is also are responsible for searching for and disbanding illegal guilds. Every guild is limited to how many members they can have. The maximum per guild is fifty members. This is to keep there from being a major uneven scale in power. Each guild hall, when purchased, is magically linked directly to each member of said guild. Non-members are unable to enter a guild hall they are not a part of. Even transportation platforms and portal magic is blocked. The only way non-members are allowed entry is through invite from a member of whichever guild hall they are wanting to enter. This magical block also applies to the authorities. Guilds are responsible for handling their own when inside the hall. When one is invited into a guild hall, they have a warm tingly feeling in their chest for just a split second. It is there and gone so quickly one could possibly not notice it. These invite are not to be taken lightly though, because a sarcastic invite can have dire consequences. This is known to be true because of an incident about ten years ago.
A guild member of a lesser guild jokingly invited in an unsanctioned guild known as The Enforcers. The guild who the member had belonged to had become far from innocent, and The Enforcers took the invite to wipe out the guild overnight. The guild's leader was the only member rumored to be unaccounted for and his whereabouts are unknown. He went by the name Fadeto0, or Fade for short. He was (or is) an infamous thief attributed with hundreds of thefts all over the world. However, the only ones who ever reported him stealing from them were corrupt, selfish individuals or other petty thieves themselves. Fade was, for lack of a better term, a noble thief, if you would.
The society also has a ranking system that goes from a one star guild to a Five Star Diamond Guild. It measures overall power, wealth, and renown. Only three guilds have earned the highest ranking and the top two are Strands of Destiny and Diabolical Dissension. This ranking system is also used for ranking solo members within the guilds. The only three to obtain the title of Five Star Diamond are Zero of Crimson Shadow, Tophus, the leader of Diabolical Dissension, and Oasis, the leader of Strands of Destiny. These ranks are not limited to the guilds and members who reside in Eldershear. All legal guilds are subject to ranking.

It is widely known that this secretive group would be the number one ranked guild in the world due to their wealth and power if they were a legal guild through the Eldershear Guild Society. However, due to their work they have chosen to refrain from becoming so.History
Eldershear was first settled by a group of nomads who worshiped the deity Bahamut. The original settlement was on the ground, however, and not atop of the large plateau it is now. The village was attacked by bandits and as fire consumed the area, a lone girl--one who did not reside there--appeared. She summoned to Eldershear's aid a gargantuan fiery wyrm--the deity of fire himself, Bahamut. Between the two of them, they managed to not only embrace the bandits, but rescue a handful of people from their fated demise.
After they had healed, the villagers wanted to rebuild, but High Priestess Feyrin thought it ill-advised to build where they had been. Instead, she looked to the sky and asked Bahamut to create a place high above the earth where they could create a place where denizens of the world could come and be safe. A place where that no normal bandits could reach. With his power, he rose the plateau out of the ground, rising it high into the air. High Priestess Feyrin then blessed the land, creating the barrier that still protects it to this day. Bahamut gave the villagers who began to build there wyverns so that they may travel to and from their new home safely.
