Crimson Shadow

Crimson Shadow is one of numerous guilds throughout the world, and one of many who have made Eldershear their home. They consist of ten members who were soloists and teams, who joined together under Fate through common interest.

Their becoming a guild was never an intention of any of its members when they first started meeting. But as they met and continued working jobs together, they realized that while a small group, they worked well together when needed. They may argue and fight over stupid things, or sometimes not so stupid things, but in the end they still care about one another and look after each other. Mess with one, you mess with all of them, and none of the Crimson Shadow go down without a fight.

Moments within the Guild Hall

Diahime growled lightly as she glanced over at her brother, "Isn’t that kind of…selfish?"

"Whatever, Dia. It’s not like you’re exactly the golden child of purity here," Xio waived off his sister from where he sat alone at a table.

"Let's all be honest," Zero butted in, "The most innocent one here is Mal."

Malice didn't even bother looking up from the magazine she was reading, "Just because I hate you all equally."

Roll grinned widely, "Aww, don’t talk like that Mally!"

Malice's eyebrow twitched as she glared over at Roll, "I told you to stop calling me that."

Vivi rubbed his temples from where he sat on a couch, "You are all giving me a headache."

Fate chuckled lightly, "I'm finding it mildly entertaining."

"Not you too Fate…" Vivi sighed.

Kage grinned as she shimmied up next to Roll, "Oooh! Mommy and daddy are gonna fight again!"

Storm walked up beside his best friend and Roll, "If they get a divorce I wonder who will bribe us to love them more."

Crit rolled her eyes, "You two are pathetic."
"Hey Fyre."

"Oh, hello Dia," Fyre smiled at her, "What's up?"

"Not much," Diahime sighed as she sat down, "I just got back from doing a job with four of the others."

"Oh yeah? Get anything good?"

"Not really," she responded, "Crit and Roll are putting stuff in the store right now for sale."

"I wish I could go on jobs to help you guys out."

"One day when your head isn't messed up you can. I wonder what class you are?"

"Hmm, maybe a paladin?"

"You'd look so cute in paladin armor. But you don't strike me as one with the build of a paladin. Maybe a cute mage!"

"Cute...wasn't exactly the look I'd go for."

"Sorry," Diahime laughed, "It's hard to picture you as some hardcore badass. But who knows? Maybe you were."

"I...don't really know. I'm still getting fragments of my old life. I don't know a lot about who I am yet. I know that's still hard to believe..."

"As hard to believe as it may be, take your time. None of us here judge you badly for it."

Both girls looked up to see Fate standing there. He smiled at them, greeting them warmly before asking Fyre to walk with him. She nodded and stood up, following him out of the guild hall, the two passing by Storm and Kage on their way out.

"Fyre?"

"Hm? Yes, Fate?" she said as she caught back up to him, pacing a few steps behind him.

"What do you think of our little family?"

"I really like everyone a lot. Though I'm pretty convinced Xio hates me."

Fate chuckled lightly, "Xio doesn't hate you. As harsh and rough around the edges as he may make himself seem, Xio possesses the same kind heart every single member of Crimson Shadow does."

"Even Malice?"

"Yes, even her," he smiled.

"Fate, can I ask you something?"

"Of course."

"How did the guild come to be?"

"Hm? Why do you want to know that?”

“I’m just curious.”

“Well, I met Vi when we both took the same job from two different cities. We challenged one another to see who could get the job done the quickest. We ended up fighting a pair of giants and took them down at the same time. We met back up on more jobs over the next few months and became very good friends as well as rivals. During that time we had also came across Malice, Roll, and Crit. Between the five of us we banded together and began blasting through jobs as a group, even leading other groups of people on larger jobs that required more than one team. Soon enough Kage and Storm also joined us, and then Xio and Dia, and finally Zero. We had become a ten man team without even realizing it. After one particularly dangerous job, I joked that after all that time we were pretty much a ragtag group of misfits who should make a guild just because. And well, the rest is history. We've been together for about five years now."

"Wow..." Fyre smiled, "That's amazing. And five years? You must all be very close."

"We are a family," Fate nodded, "And I wouldn't trade a single one of them. Each has their weaknesses and strengths, as do I, and we maintain a delicate balance, covering each's weakness with another's strength."

"I wish I could have friends like you guys have."

Fate turned to her with a gentle smile, "But you already do. Even though we haven't been together long, you're already one of us, Fyre. You are just as important to me as the other members of our guild, and to them as well...even if Xio denies it."

Fyre laughed. She couldn't deny that everyone in the guild had accepted her as a member of their little family. Even though they weren't the largest or most powerful guild by comparison, they had more heart than anyone she had ever met before in her life. Fate noticed a few members of another guild off in the distance and lead Fate away from them.

"Fate?"

"Yes, Fyre?"

"Thank you."

He rested her hand in her head with another gentle smile before ruffling her hair. Even though her existence raised more questions than answers for Fate, he was happy to have met the girl beside him. She was an innocent and pure soul. He genuinely believed this. He also promised himself that no matter how long it took, he would figure out her purpose for being here, no matter how long it took him.

When the many beat as one.
