History

The first skyship was designed for exploration and the next four to transport cargo. The Barle, completed in 4EX, was designed to ferry people around the skycoasts of Breharan. It served this purpose until 12EX when it was commissioned to bring a group of people to another sky island. This group would eventually become Outpost 1.   In the following seasons and years The Barle would continue to move people between Breharan and Outpost 1, bringing with it messages from family and friends as well as luxury or exotic goods. The planned arrival times always see the skyports full of people waiting for it. This carries on to the present as it is the only ship to travel that route.   During the sinking of Outpost 4, the Barle was pulled from its normal duties to aid the transport of refugees alongside other ships. Out of the 1431 people rescued from Outpost 4, 578 of them were rescued by the Barle. The crew was experienced with passenger transport and the ship prepared and designed for it. It was the final ship to leave the island just as the last of it sunk into The Floor.

Propulsion

As with all skyships, the Barle is held aloft with an engine created by the Machine Priests. For motion and steering it uses a variety of sails to catch the wind.

Weapons & Armament

The Barle has two cannons and carries a small number of cannon balls and a small amount of black powder.

Armor and defense

The Barle has no special armor or defenses. It is not a ship designed for battle.

Communication Tools & Systems

A variety of color and symbol coded flags allow the Barle to communicate with other skyships.
