"Were you at the performance last cycle? I think it may be the best opera I have ever seen. Ajai was a good Rakan but Mide was incredible. When she would sing, the entire hall would shake. I don't know if I would have believed it if I had not heard and felt it. It was only her first performance with the Imperial Opera Company and I have a feeling it is the first of many."

Personal history

Mide was born to a family of laborers and was the fourth of nine children. Her relatives say that she was a loud baby and that her cries would echo from the mountains. When she was fourteen a travelling noble heard her singing while she and her siblings worked. The noble asked her parents if they would join him and his wife for dinner at which they proposed Mide travel to the capital to be heard by the head of the Imperial Opera Company.
After a journey to the capital and putting some money in the right hands, Mide was able to watch the company rehearse and talk to the director afterward. Then director, Enx Dorbei, told her that, if she wanted, she could pursue a career in opera and spend her life bringing stories to life on stage for all to hear. Having immensely enjoyed the rehearsal she had heard just before she agreed. Enx Borbei personally wrote a letter to her parents explaining what had transpired and invited her to see the production with their daughter.
After several years of practicing at the company, Mide performed in her first opera, The Loyalty of General Rakan. Which became an instant success, Mide in particular was an audience favorite. Since that success Mide has been in all of the major performances and helped younger singers reach their potential as well.

Gender Identity

Mide presents and wants to be perceived as a woman. Something that Mide usually keeps to herself is that one of the reasons she joined the opera was because of the beautiful costumes, she had never seen dresses like that back in her home town.

Education

Prior to joining the opera, Mide had no education and could not read or write. At the company she learned to sing and to act. As part of this education she learned to read and write.

Motivation

Mide has come to love performing and continues to do so out of a passion for her art. She also enjoys hearing that people were moved by and enjoyed her performances. She never would have been able to move people so much if she was still just a laborer.

Mide has adopted the ways of speaking popular among the elite of Bral but sometimes she still slips back into the way people would speak in her village, a casual way of speaking considered impolite in the social circles she now finds herself in.
