The Trumpets Organization in Life Under Four Suns | World Anvil

The Trumpets

Ours is the history of our people. Cheerfully has this world embraced the outside, while we hold true to the old ways, to the songs of our mothers, to the prayers of our fathers.   We shall cry across this world, from the shadow of the jungle if we must, until our final breathes. At that time, may a new breath cry out, or we shall all be dead.
Ahuna Dhoom, leader of The Trumpets
Once a beloved organization, known for their amazing ability to recall detail, the Trumpets are now a detested anti-government group on the planet Tarun. For the last hundred years, the group has met in secret, outlawed for having spoken out against the regime at the time and for continuing to speak out against injustices attributed to the Tarunan as a whole.   The Trumpets are an ancient Society of Oral Storytellers. They were well known for speaking truth and were respected for being willing and able to speak out against corruption by the regimes of their times.   That is until the regime of Raaja Tor'fi. His attempt to militarize the government was unliked by many traditionalists, amd the Trumpets spoke out against it.   They were violently supressed, and the oral tradition was outlawed, quickly replaced by the easier to control communications already in use across the star system anyway.   The Trumpets keep their knowledge through their ability to never forget a thing they have been told, though this requires the Trumpets to undergo decades of training, learning and reciting the old stories and laws.

Founding Date
Official organization of various oral traditionalists dates to the 7th year of Majaara Koor Piat.

This sounds like such a great organisation. It's a shame that they have been suppressed by the regime. :(

Wholly ironic "Thanks Tor'fi"   Yeah, I'm still working out the how/why of that, but I love the idea of old groups that still operate under an air of secrecy.
