Decadencey
Welcome dear traveller, to the moving shop of forbidden arts and crafts. And we are not talking finger painting. Decadencey is not for what you want - but for what you need.
Once owned by the witch Mrs Vesperine, and passing briefly through the hands of her daughter Deluna, Decadencey is now run by the imp Cherish.
Bigger on the inside, this place is full of shelves and knick knacks. Vials full of fermenting eyeballs, books both paper and bindings, forbidden knowledge at every turn. Little vials of dyes for the handy distraction join long nosed mammal skulls, the whole space organised but in that way that it is always full of an energy of someone living here. A constant "let me clean up". Cherish has embraced the Goth mood of the place, having traded for deep black robes adorned with embroidered sun positions, the twin suns more important than what the moon is doing in Levis mysticism. Trading with Cherish requires something important or strange be passed over, though the imp continues the history of accepting payment at a different date or in an act in the outside world. The biggest secret though is that connected to the back is a hallway that always moves you to the sewer level stone working of an artefact of transformation. Touching the artefact will mutate the toucher on a cellular level, churning that bodily essence into a Hybrid . It also will allow the toucher to enact one major change into the universe. It just tends to kill any non human who touches it. Adorning the wall of this forbidden artefact room is a painted mural filled with nooks for lesser artefacts. The mural itself depicts both the driving of humanity from Levis by the ancient foliads, and a future where the humans return en mass to be resisted by folid, troll and nocturne. Not just anyone can arrive at Decadencey, the location always finding itself where it needs to be, but unlike the Oracle Grove there is not always a need in the magic of the bookstore to be helpful. There is something in the turning of the building that plays on a mysterious and Gothic energy. One time a customer arrived to be able to open a drawer full of ethereal domestic felines in a world that does not do that to cats. That the customer left with two ghost cats is immaterial. So yes, come to the bookstore of desires. Chat with an imp of mischief and taboo knowledge and see what you need or the world needs from you.Ownership
The story of how the imp Cherish got a hold of Decadencey is a bit more funny than "the bard Deluna did not want it". Firstly, she was quite handily at the point of inherritance dealing with her coming back from the Forbidden Forest as a bride of Xylos. As such she did not have time to deal with all her responsibilities in the city.
She was already easing management (but not ownership) of Moonlit Melodies over to the foliad Fiore, and then her mother 'gifted' the bookshop as the various pies Mrs Vesperine had her fingers in was becoming known to the council, and she valued her new seat on the council more than she did her collection of knick knacks. Hence the mother to daughter 'sale'.
But the bard had too many of her own projects she had to offload or lighten the load of due to the fact she was now the second half of a leader of an improptu refugee camp. So, being the woman of mischief she is, Deluna set up a card game amoung any who wanted the prize, and the risks of Decadencey.
Cherish was not the best at cards, and as an imp, Cherish would not have gotten Decadencey through prestige and power - but the cunning Cherish showed during the opening hands caused Deluna to change the purpose of the card game to an interview with 6 other players as 'test questions'.
By the end of the card game Cherish held the deed to Decadencey, and the knowledge of the true purpose of the building.
