Dapplepoint Inn

Named after the scientific concept, the inn resembles 8 squat drums layered upon each other, its rooftop garden spilling over the top like a head hair-do.

The inn supports 36 rooms, each with a balcony working off a central shared space, and built like wedges of a thick donut.

Providing room for some of the traders and travellers to the city, the inn is served by a family of three, with the forth member often at the markets trying to trade off the goods used to pay for the food and service the inn provides. For while everyone deserves and has a home (ideally) in Levis, the traders and transient folk are not supplied a house in every settlement along their route.

The inn itself provides a nightly meal for each of its 36 guests, and makes available the service to get their clothes laundered by one of the staff. The family lives within the inn, constantly available in this land of distinct work/life balance.

Several offers have been made by outside forces to help out or take over, but there is not enough supply of traders at the current time to be able to petition to expand the inn with a Council Member and thus afford another staff member. The inn has been in the family for 5 generations, and as such the family has a resistance to people bringing forth the idea of someone from Solaris or the like trading for the inn.

Alterations

Through the course of its existence, indoor plumbing has been added to the inn, with the communal bathroom area converted into a bath house that has been traded off during recent lean times.

Signal circuits have also been attached to the market side of the inn to allow the trademaster to be called upon to settle the increasing number of disputes that happen between family and customer as nerves are frayed and examples such as the Saburra Desert Station brought up.

The Dapplepoint is the moment that the humidity reaches such an uncomfortable point, usually accompanied by extreme heat, that the release of such into rain would provide large amounts of irritation to turn into joy and relief. Thus the rain in this case spawns as waterlogged glimmer, fat little floating motes that explode into bursts if water when they finally bump into things.

I wonder if the family will be forced to change things eventually, which would be sad for them.
