The Dragon Empire of Surinor

The Great Surinese Empire is the name of the governmental body of the island of Surinor on the east side of the Talan continent..

Structure

The primary rule of the Empire is the Emperor or Empress, historically ruled by a single ancient dragon family. The current ruler is Her Radiance Empress Namiko.   Second to the Empress is the Great Shogun, military ruler of all Surinor. The current shogun is the Empresses son the half-dragon Daisu.   Below this are various Daimyo's of noble houses and the samurai who support them.   Traders and Merchants have a good amount of political sway as well within Surinor.

Public Agenda

The Empires primary goal is to sustain its own borders, while expanding its influence through trade of its rich resources such as silks and rare foods.

History

Its said that four thousand years ago a small fleet of ships were washed up onto Surinor's shores. Back then only the native warring Asmodai and Ishima tribes that were inhabiting the island.   The Great Dragon Tsubatyo took pity on the shipwreck survivors and guided them to safety and protected them from their neighbors. Over generations under his guidance they founded the city of Surinor on the rocks that had destroyed their largest ship and started their conquest of all of Surinor. The Ishima and Asmodai clans were folded into the greater whole and Surinor was unified in under three centuries.   Millenia passed... the great Dragon left to unknown lands leaving his son in charge of the Surinor, eventually this son died to invaders and his daughter took over. As did her eventual passing and the chain has continued unbroken until the current Empress Namiko has assumed control.   These millenia have not always been peaceful however. Civil war, foreign invasion, famine and disease have all wracked Surinor over the millenia, and each has been delt with by their draconic leaders and many, many vassals.
