Ishima

The Ishima are one of the two native species to Surinor, along with their hated cousins the Asmodai. They have blended their culture with that of the Surinese embedding themselves into the fabric of Surinors society.

Basic Information

Anatomy

There are two kinds of Ishima the Airborne Seraph and the Fiery Archons.   Seraph appear as humans although light of skin and light of build. They have similar hair tones and skin tones although occasionally one will be born with bright blue or purple hair. The only other remarkable quality, and it is quite the remarkable quality, is that Seraph are born with wings sprouting from below their shoulder blades. Their feathers are often white in color although other hues have been known to exist such as mottled browns or bright blues and greens. White is by far the most common. Their wingspan however only reaches about six feet in maximum, not even close to enough for the Seraph to properly fliy, they make up for this with their incredibly light frame and a Seraph can jump amazingly high with the aid of both their wings, strong leg muscles, and light frame.   Archons also appear as humans do. Commonly their skin is of darker color, often brown or even black but occasionally lighter colors appear. The most striking difference from humanity however is that their hair appears to be on fire, flickering and snapping above their heads. This "hair" also comes in a variety of shades, most commonly red, orange, blue or rarely violet. Their eyes invariably match their hair in color and tend to have a metallic sheen to them.

Civilization and Culture

History

Both the Asmodai and @Ishima existed on Surinor for a long time. And for an equally long time the peoples fought.   This changed once the Surinese appeared. At first they fought the shipwreck survivors as simply a new tribe on the island. But under the great dragons guidance the tribes of Ishima and Asmodai didn't stand a chance and they were quickly absorbed. First as vassals to their new lords and then eventually as equals. Over millenia their culture has morphed and blended with the Surinese and now culturally they are the same... But some old rivalries never die.

  • Lightning Resistance You have resistance to Lightning Damage
  • Feather Fall You are always under the effect of the spell Feather Fall. As described in the Player's Handbook.
  • Limited Flight You have a flying speed of 30 ft. You may only fly while wearing light armor and only lightly encumbered. If you end your turn in the air you fall to a space directly below you.
  • Element Locked When given the choice Seraph may only choose Air as their element.

 

Archon

Ability Score Increase +2 Strength & +1 Charisma
Size Medium
Speed 30 ft.

  • Fire Resistance You have resistance to Fire Damage
  • Archons Flames Starting at 3rd level, you can use your action to unleash the burning energy within yourself, causing your body to be wreathed in flames.   These flames last for 1 minute or until you end it as a bonus action. While the flames are active once on each of your turns, you can deal extra fire damage to one target when you deal damage to it with an attack or a spell. The extra fire damage equals your level.   Once you use this trait, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
  • Firebolt You know the firebolt cantrip
  • Lucky When you roll a 1 on an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you can reroll the die and must use the new roll.
  • Element Locked When given the choice Archons may only choose Fire as their element.
