"We're not in Neverwinter Wood anymore." Plot in Legacy of the Realms | World Anvil

"We're not in Neverwinter Wood anymore."

Goodmonth 5, 592 CY   Unknown Location       The group stepped through the portal in Venomfang's lair and found themselves in an unfamiliar place.   The portal led them to a mirror image of the tower in Thundertree, a tower that Venomfang used as a lair. Except this tower was in better shape than the other one.   Gathering themselves together, the group exited the tower. They were shocked to find they were transported high up in a mountain range. No one seemed to know where they were exactly.   Perhaps we're in the mountain range where Mount Hotenow is located, Brimsdall thought. He scanned the mountain peaks but couldn't see the billowing smoke that constantly emanated from the volcano.   "Where are we?" Sarros asked. "One thing is certain. We're not in Neverwinter Wood anymore."   "Where we are though?" Toph asked. He looked up at the sky and shielded his eyes from the sun. "That's strange..."   Stones, the goblin bounty hunter tossed a rock into some dry bushes nearby. "What's strange besides being up in the mountains when we were in a forest just moments before?"   Top kept scanning the sky overhead. "The sun. It's almost setting."   "So what?" Stones asked.   "Well, it was nearing highsun when we arrived in Thundertree. Now the sun is setting on the horizon."   Brimsdall looked towards the setting sun. "It's nearly dusk. Not only did the portal took us into the mountains. Time has changed as well."   "Can teleportation do that?" Sarros asked Brimsdall.   "Not that I'm aware of." The sorcerer/warlock said. "Unless we are far from the Sword Coast. I'm aware that time is different depending where on Toril one is located. It could still be night in Thay while it's already morning in the Sword Coast."   Stones looked towards a rocky path below winding its way among boulders, gravel, and steep mountain slopes. The goblin suddenly pointed at the path down below.   "There! It's Asandra and her mercenary!"   The group quickly made their way down the mountainside.   By the sun's location, they were headed north, upwards towards a valley that seemed to stop at the base of a hillside.   Soon, they topped a rise and gained their first view of the hillside beyond. Erosion had eaten away at the rocky slope, partially revealing what appeared to be a metal wall of great height Atop one part of the steep slope, a small upper door stood open. At the bottom of the slope, some distance below, another larger metal door as large as a gate was closed tight.   Stones looked at the dirt path they were on. "There are several tracks here. Some booted and some barefoot and clawed."   "Did anyone see where Asandra and the mercenary went?" Brimsdall asked. "They couldn't have gone past this area."   "The door along that metal wall is open," Sarros said. "They must have gone that way."   Toph looked around the rocky area. "There's no other way except down that steep slope. They must have gone through the door."   Brimsdall moved towards the door. Wink was beside him. "Let's go inside."   The other nodded and followed Brimsdall towards the metal and wall and into the door.
