Western Sea

The Western Sea is located west of Leanor. Apart from the areas near the coast, which are territorial waters of the bordering countries, the rights to the waters are unregulated. Additionally, it is not known what is found west of the western seas, which leads to a lot of speculation and many myths surrounding just that. There have been past attempts to cross the western sea to explore the lands beyond, but so far, none of the explorers have returned.

Different cultures have different ideas of what lies beyond and there are countless myths and legends about what is west of the western sea. According to the legends of the Dragons of Old, which are common among the Serbaith and Valeori, west of the western sea is where the dragons went after leaving Leanor, while the Acadeans believed the land of the dead to be there. Others think that the world just ends there and explorers haven't returned because they fell off the edge. Everyone has their own guess, but nobody really knows anything.

Along the coastline, a lot of trade is done by ship, which also makes it a prime area for pirates and buccaneers, who do not answer to any laws but their own. Additionally, storms in the western sea can be quite violent and often approach very suddenly, which can take sailors by surprise. Both the pirates and the storms can make the shipping routes along the coast quite unpredictable and challenging to navigate. The shipping routes are a necessary supply line, particularly for the islands off the coast of the main land, but they are also feared by many.

The Silver Sea is an exception to that rule, because it is separated from the open sea by the Evening Isles and otherwise completely surrounded by the main land, making its waters much less treacherous. In addition, in the Silver Sea, there are no unclaimed waters, so there is less piracy.
