Death of Narfi Whitefinger, Formation of the Islands Five

Political event

185

The death of Narfi Whitefinger via sacrifice and the subsequent surrender of his people to the Logratte-Helgaard alliance.

After spending much time in seclusion at the cold and dangerous Jurejun, Narfi returned with a mind more twisted than before. He spoke of magics that would help defeat the alliance, cure their diseases, and unite all of the Snow Rock Isles. By now, his people were dying in swathes from illness and no individual had a mind for finishing the war. They held no kindness in their hearts for Narfi, as he ran away when his people needed him most. In a show of defiance akin to that of Abbot's mutiny, they brought him back to the Steward's Longhouse in Steirvem before sacrificing him to the Wishing Well. Given that he had the divine blood of rulership, they hoped his death would bring the peace they needed.   Upon his collapse into the water, the priests of Bailum had a vision. They said that Silset had revealed herself to them upon the sacrifice and would grant their wishes for prosperity. Further, she claimed that this war of ideologies and politics would only grow into a military conflict if it continued any longer, but such a thing was needless; the people of the Isles were to be one. This vision showed that the discovery of Silset by the enemy was not falsified, and provided justification for the Alliance's control of the isles. Silset commanded the priests to seek peace with the Lograttes and Helgaards. From the ashes of the two haseti, a new church was to form that would recognize all of the Ohdaufeen under the laws of man and integrate them into society. Narfi's haseti followed her command and made peace with their enemy, ending a short-lived era of silent war and fear. Churches of Bailum would be built across every island in the nation and the government would later become a theocracy known as the Islands Five.
