The failed attempt of the Augury to peacefully assimilate Gullivegur.

After establishing dwarvish settlements on the Trinen-Mot D'nir border, the Augury decided to utilize them as outposts for their ongoing political interests in Gullivegur. Unfortunately for the empire, the border city had long been independent, and the story behind its rise was mostly lost to history. At the time of this political bargain, Gullivegur was ruled by a Tara-Jhen Gidofem, though humans were allowed into the city, and the settlement was a junction for trade with the inner marsh.   Mostly due to familiar architecture, the Augury made the loose claim that the settlement had first belonged to humanity, to which the Gidofem claimed that it was conquered and taken from the Naga-Tel of old Ravahinas Village, making the location the territory of the Tara-Jhen. When the Augury took steps to bargain for the city's assimilation, they were quickly turned down (and the offer was a poor one, not even allowing the lizardfolk citizenship).   After receiving yet another vision from the gods regarding an eventual conflict in the marsh, the Augurs became persistent in their attempts to gain the city and would consider more drastic action. While a deadly skirmish would break out down the road, it likely would have been entirely avoidable if the lizardfolk had been guaranteed citizenship at the onset. It was one of the consuls that would twist the word of the Augurs before the bargain occurred, due to his desire to prevent the lizardfolk from desiring to migrate north.
