Augur

An augur is an individual who divines on behalf of the human empire known as the Augury. Three augurs rule at any given time, alongside two Consuls who have increasingly burdened authority over time. Thanks to divination magic and guidance from the god Chaimut, the augurs can see into the future and past, allowing them to guide political action in the empire's best interest. While it was always theorized that the consuls twisted the words of the augurs before the senate in the past, the political authority of the augurs was all but ended after The Silence. With the three augurs being assassinated and plunging the empire into chaos, it was decided that they must be arduously protected. While the augurs occasionally reverted to reclusive behavior across their careers, those of the post-Silence world are tantamount to prisoners.
