Darron Ælf

These are the southernmost race of Ælf, who at one time, centuries past, ruled more than half of Lainshoa. Primarily a city dwelling people, they are well known for their architecture, which is unsurpassed anywhere above the earth’s surface. In the city of Darron is the greatest university and library system in the known world. This facility has students from all species, but most are Ælfen. All liberal arts and known sciences are studied, as well as most magical arts. However, fees to study are extravagant, and only those with high familial social status can afford to attend. A smaller percentage of people can afford to study the magical arts, and at this university, only Ælfen people are permitted to enroll in this area of studies.
Darron City is also the most well fortified and protected city known. There has never been a siege upon it that has succeeded, and it is likely that there never will be. This is not only due to the actual fortification, but also because this city has enough internal gardens to keep the regular inhabitants fed and has the highest concentration of wizards in the known world. It is known as the “City of Peace”, because of the lack of warfare surrounding it.
This nation also has an excellent navy, certainly one of the best in the world. The ships built in Darron are more technologically advanced than those in any other part of the world. This is sometimes a downfall, because these ships require a smaller crew than many others, they are often prey to pirates who carry larger crews. Of course, they can usually outrun the marauders, but ambushes have been known to be successful. Trade from Darron is primarily spices, paper, rope and minerals.
